  1. It looked to me like Pepe was actually waiting very very late before deciding which way to dive. You could tell on the Sheringham one where he didn't bother to dive that he'd been decieved but on the others he seemed to read it brilliantly. The penalty save from Zamoron was amazing. I like the way when he makes a mistake he doesn't let it bother him. I thought he was unlucky to be punished on the second goal and the third I didn't see as his fault - just a freak goal. The saves at the start of the second half were really important and the hand on the one heading for the top corner at the end was amazing. I also love the way he was very self critical at the end despite the penatly saves. Great keeper.

    the players today

Lad who started speaking to me after I'd left the pub reckons Benitez only needs to replace two players to make us champions: Momo and Finnan.

    SWP for 14m

Pennant every time for me. Not becuase he's cheaper or better but because Wright Phillips carried one enormous disdavantage. His dad - an utter idiot - will be commenting on us all the time. Can't stand that thought.
  4. Those of you who got tickets for the Champions League Final - have you received them yet? I've not.
  5. You jest but isn't that how Napoli signed Maradona?

    Adidas ad

To be fair I thought he looked a different player on the left. different player on the left.

    Adidas ad

Anyone seen the new Adidas ad? Two Spanish kids pick teams to play each other. First fan picks Cisse first pick. Unlike a Spanish Fan to do something so strange.
  10. Will be on everywhere around that area.

    Kuyt II

If he signs for United or Chelsea it'll be a lot easier to pronounce.
  12. This content is not viewable to guests.
  13. Met him a few times - goes to the same gym as me - great bloke.
  14. Kendall really is an embarassment.
  15. Make our interest in Diouf known so that we can all get excited about pairing him and Cisse upfront in a dram £24m partnership.
  16. Two words: Ali Dia
  17. I was under the impression that Rafa was thinking about someone else staying on.
  18. Parry's a hypnotist too. Look into my tie Stevie and Rafa, you don't want to leave do you.
  19. Lucky we got the one with aerial ability, touch and football brain - they don't go with age.
  20. I just got two tickets to the Champions League Final. Come on Barcelona.

    Momo

I feel we are really really missing him. When he plays we normally get control of midfield and can't suffocate teams in their own half. He also protects the centre backs and allows us to play a high line as the defenders can be fairly sure that their midfielders won't have a lot of time and space to pick a pass as Fabregas did today. His presence also gives Xabi more time to play, and Gerrard more freedom to get forward. It's much harder to do that with Hamman who plays much deeper than Momo and is much much less mobile. Clearly having a forward who constituted a threat would help a bit too.
  22. Not for me he doesn't. Of the really top attacking players I've seen live over the past 10 years for me only Zidane really comes close. I thought you could see against Chelsea a level of awe for Ronaldinho among the Chelsea players which no-one else could have engendered.
  23. I don;t think this is terrible news in some ways. Both are top players but both are on the way down. I can't believe they are the manager's first choices as they don't fit the profile of the players he's signed so far at all. I suspect that he is being put under pressure by the most likable duo in football - Roman and Pete. If that's the case I wouldn;t expect him to hang around that long. I think it would be a surprise if JM did not go suddenly.

    Strikers

Off the top of my head the majorish strikers I can remember us signing under the last four managers: Saunders - ok nothing more Clough - never really did it Riedle - good but past it Collymore - erratically good for a while Heskey - flattered to decieve Diouf - less said the better Baros - did ok, never looked completely convincing as a starter Cisse - we're not playing to his strengths but looks quite average Morientes - it's been all over for a while Crouch - doing ok but cannot carry the goalscoring burden Not too many success stories in that bunch...
  25. We must have been watching a different game. I thought they were both very good tonight.
