I went to an Athletico game earlier this year. I thought his movement was excellent but he also looked quite lazy. I'd eb failry surprised if eh was Rafa's choice. On the other hand he did miss a peno for them in the game which should help him fit in nicely with our lot.

Agreed. It's not about spending 30m on one player. It's about getting the player necessary to improve your squad. For Liverpool to compete with Chelsea and Manchester United, we need to be bringing in players worthy of playing in their first teams. I couldn't agree more with that. To me it's blindingly obvious that the likes of Pennant and Bellamy (good games though both have had for us) are currently nowhere near the level that will get us on terms with United and Chelsea. We are at least two top level attacking players short. By that I mean the sort of players that the best 10 teams in Europe would want to buy from us.

I'd be staggered if we went large on 6 players. I think it will be more like 3 players. I'm expecting cover at CB (£5m or less), a winger (c.12m), (a forward c.20m) plus Lucas, Voronin and Leto.

I thought Pennant did ok tonight but he's a level or two short of what we need. Even leaving aside the likes of Placcy he's nowhere near as good now say Ljunberg was a few years ago. Too few goals and beats his man too rarely for me.
