  1. Citroen 2CV is known as an Ente in Germany which means duck.......................... Duck in Potuguese is Pato.........................................we're signing Alexandre Pato!* This will probably end up on Football Rumours as "fact".
  2. Christian Vieri
  3. Forum meltdown on its way Maybe Voronin has a less silky twin and we are signing him.
  4. If I remember rightly, at the start of last season we conceded quite a few goals and Rafa said at the time that it was because we were not compact enough in midfield. As soon as he tightened up the midfield by using only "semi-wide" players we became much better defensively. I cannot see him suddenly going for touchline hugging wingers. He wants right and left sided midfielders who stay reasonably close to the central midfielders and who can also do a job defensively. He plays Gerrard out right because he knows he will tuck in rather than go outside. He plays Kuyt out right because he will do exactly the same. For the same reasons he has used Riise on the left side before. If we are to have any real width it will probably come from fullbacks who can attack such as Alves. Rafa builds everything around a strong tight midfield, and out and out wingers wreck that approach.
  5. 2 to beat it, 1 to equal it.
  6. You will obviously have seen a great deal more of Arshavin, but he impressed me against Leverkusen. Is he worth a bid, even if only to p*ss of Everton who have been linked with him quite a bit?
  7. Sebastien Frey has gone off into the town centre for a drink as there is no danger of Rangers getting near his goal. Il Pennello is nice restaurant there. La Ribotta is a decent bar run by fanatical Fiorentina fans. (They always used to let me Liverpool games on the projector screen in the back room) As you can tell not a lot is happening.
  8. They are not unobtainable. We choose to spread our money to rather than focus it.
  9. I hate to face it, but I have to agree. We kid ourselves too often by gaining results through every other ability except sheer quality. I would rather we brought in one of Kaka, Messi or Aguero, than three or four "good" players. We have a great spine of a team, but we need to put exceptional flesh and blood on it, rather than a lot of adipose tissue.
  10. I'm honestly beginning to think that Chelsea have covered every angle for winning the CL this year. (Take that as you will). United will win the Premiership. The most important thing for us now is that we get the ownership mess sorted and start to bring in the sort of quality players who wouild make us expect to win a Cl semi-final, rather than hope to.

  12. Two lots of English fans in Mooscow (or one lot and Tarquin if Chelsea get there) and minimum co-operation between the British and Russian authorities because of the Litvinenko affair is a recipe for trouble.
  13. Ronaldo booked because Zambrotta threw himself to the ground. Poetic justice
  14. Henry would do so well in this game.
  15. Because lots of other horrible, nasty teams beat them and we all know that's not fair.
  16. Nani should have scored.
  17. Barca will be lifted as they realise that United have a halfwit between the posts.
  18. Eto'o is the anti-Arsenal, he shoots every time he gets the ball.

  21. This will be a weird game. I will spend the whole of the match thinking about Chelsea.
  22. I hope you made chips from him, applied plenty of salt and vinegar and ate him.....................................................and then vomited him up.
  23. I said before this in the other thread about what would we consider a good result after the first leg that we could score at least a couple at Stamford Bridge. We will probably have to now, but I still think we can. This Chelsea side is not the same as under Mourinho, they have periods where they drift completely out of the game. Anyone else think Riise is working for DIC? Kaizer, I disagree with you about Riise's role in the goal, but I also disagree with the personal abuse you are getting. We all feel totally deflated after conceding that goal, but it's only the first leg. If we can't beat an Average Grant side in the second leg we would be hard pressed to beat either Barca or United in the final.
  24. For a professional footballer at this level to be so scared of using his right foot that he heads a knee-high ball beggars belief. He owes us big time. He has a record of scoring against Chelsea so he had better deliver in the second leg, and seeing as Aurelio's injured he will probably play. I thought for long periods tonight Chelsea looked poor. We didn't take our chances, but I certainly do not fear them next Wednesday. We can win at the Bridge and thanks to Riise we will have to.
  25. Geez he's only just come on
