  1. PENNANT SIGNS FOUR YEAR ANFIELD DEAL Paul Eaton 26 July 2006 Liverpool have today completed the signing of Jermaine Pennant from Birmingham on a four year contract. The 23 year old right sided midfielder officially put pen to paper on his Anfield deal this afternoon after completing a medical. He will fly out to Switzerland to join up with his new team-mates at their week long training camp. Pennant's arrival marks the end of manager Rafael Benitez's long search to bring in a right winger and he could make his Reds' debut against Kaiserslautern this weekend. Pennant started his career with Notts County before moving to Arsenal for £2 million in 1999. He was unable to hold down a regular place in Arsene Wenger's first team and had loan spells with Watford, Leeds United and Birmingham before completing a permanent move to St Andrews last summer. He becomes Rafael Benitez's fifth signing of the summer following the arrivals of Craig Bellamy, Mark Gonzalez, Fabio Aurelio and Gabriel Paletta. Pennant will wear the number 16 shirt at Anfield Offal

  4. Well done lads for getting this one spot on Hopefully it will turn out to be a good bit of business.
  5. It certainly wasn't Rigobert Song. He used to eat the stuff as far as I can remember.
  6. Darren Clarke, Tommy Tiernan.
  7. This is what Sky are saying about whatshisface Liverpool trialist Lazaros Christodoulopoulos is set to sign a three-year contract, according to Greek sources. We revealed on Monday that Christodoulopoulos was on trial at Anfield, but he has obviously wasted little time in impressing. Greek reports now claim that Christodoupoulos has agreed a three-year contract with The Reds and he has already passed a medical. Christodoupoulos was spotted by Liverpool's new chief scout Eduardo Macia playing for PAOK Salonika and coach Rafa Benitez has obviously been sufficiently impressed by the 20-year-old. Christodoupoulos has a get-out clause of just over £130,000 so Liverpool have no doubt decided that the risk in taking on the young striker for such a nominal fee is not a big one Here
  8. Didn't they pay a ridiculous amount for a player ( can't think of his name ) who got injured in a car crash ? Or am I finally losing it ?
  9. That's a good point. Even if you forget about his leaving the club, the selling of the story to that rag is enough evidence to hang him with surely.
  10. Milan don't tap up players, only referees. He's talking about a completely different unethical practice.
  11. Daily post article this morning. Pennant close to joining LiverpoolJul 26 2006 By Nick Smith Daily Post Staff JERMAINE PENNANT is due to complete a move to Liverpool today. The 23-year-old winger is set to undergo a medical before finalising a move for a fee believed to be in the region of £6million. It means Liverpool will have to almost double their money to reach a compromise with Birmingham City, who were quick to scotch reports yesterday that a £6m fee had been agreed between the clubs. Birmingham ideally want £8million for the 23-year-old winger, forcing Liverpool, who already had a bid of more than £3m for the winger rejected, to push their next offer to more than £6m to break Birmingham's resistance. 12. These c**** have been getting away with murder, tapping up players for years and disguising it as "election promises" Milan declare war on Madrid By Phil Jackson - Created on 26 Jul 2006 Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has declared war on Real Madrid over the tactics used to try to lure Kaka to Spain. The young Brazilian playmaker has been the subject of much speculation this summer with the Liga giants at the centre of the storm. Ramon Calderon claimed to have agreed a personal deal with the World Cup ace in the run up to his election as club president on July 3. Galliani has now come out to slam Calderon and director of sports Pedrag Mijatovic and has stepped up the rivalry between the footballing giants to epic proportions. "For 50 years Real has been the greatest club in the world but now they have thrown all that out of the window," Galliani told Marca. "This Real does nothing to honour its history or its name" Kaka extended his contract at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in June until 2011, and the Serie A side are raging against Real's new management. "Milan declares war on Real - you can write it like that - and it will do everything it can to make their life impossible," Galliani added. "Kaka is not going to leave here, but if he did it would not be to Real. No one from this club will sit down and negotiate with them because what they are doing is not how great clubs work together. "I want to clarify that these remarks are against the current Real and not the club that we all know and love." The Italians have meanwhile, been boosted by the reduction in their sentence from the country's match-fixing scandal. They will now be allowed to take part in next season's UEFA Champions League third qualifying round and start the coming campaign with only an eight point deficit in the league. Sky sports
  13. Let's not forget that the Mancs are likely to have a nice wedge to spend once the Ronaldo and Horseface deals go through. I wouldn't start laughing at them just yet. They managed to finish above us last season with a s*** midfield and Carrick, while not outstanding, will certainly improve them in that area.

This is great news. An excellent young keeper. He must have got some assurances from Rafa about his playing time.

  18. He could be off. Atletico call Torres meeting By Francisco Acedo - Created on 24 Jul 2006 Atletico Madrid are to hold a press conference on Tuesday concerning the future of striker Fernando Torres. Speculation around the 22-year-old has been rife for some time, but intensified still further following the forward's impressive displays for Spain at the World Cup. With Ruud van Nistelrooy's departure from Manchester United still seemingly imminent, Torres has persistently been touted as a replacement at Old Trafford. Atletico have constantly refuted the rumours and Sir Alex Ferguson's comments that he is concentrating on bolstering the midfield seem to bear out those denials. Ironically, the situation bears a close resemblance to that of Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo, whom The Red Devils have continually insisted is staying. A team with both the talented prospect and precocious trickster in would certainly prove a fearful force, but United fans will have to wait to see if they get their hands on Torres. sky sports
  19. Of all the possible scenarios, that sounds the most plausible.
  20. If the away kit had the Carlsberg logo in red it would have made it a lot better.
  21. I think we've established that he is Irish already in the thread.
  22. I presume there will be no fee involved. That would be asking for too much.
  23. With your track record, a banged up knee would be the least of Robbie's worries
