  1. One of our greatest ever managers. I'd have him back any time. With a stable club and reasonable financial backing we would be up there, no doubt about it.
  2. Problem with twitter, isn't it? If you don't keep flooding the airwaves with chitchat you become a nobody
  3. This was mentioned on the guardian podcast actually. They said that this exact point is covered under some rules about 'fair market value'. Obviously there is plenty of grey in that, but something insanely over the going rate will be forbidden.
  4. The point a lot of people are making is this: * role played in getting rid of the owners useful and possibly requiring some stones (or not) - good * role played in removal of man holding the club together on the field and guardian of traditions almost single handedly, subsequent poor choice of replacement, not taking advice of dalglish, large amount of direct lies and deceit especially relating to relations with supporters, possible involvement in player purchases behind managers' backs, general use of press briefings to achieve personal ends - bad Based on the second point, first point notwithstanding, Purslow to go. This is not a black and white heroes and villains scenario then is it? It's most definitely shades of grey. The only person making it out to be oversimplified is you, presumably because it suits whatever your agenda is, which I don't know.
  5. James Richardson seems to think that is reliable. He could be wrong, of course.
  6. I'm steadfastly refusing to go for the cheap broken glass joke here
  7. Fair enough. Let's hope he makes us both happy, then
  8. already sold to Juve
  9. Maybe we can ask Purslow in his next Q&A do we need to sign anyone? we have a boss manager with a really impressive track record in major european leagues and international football - 35 years of experience!!! - and we have a squad which should piss easy finish top 4. doesnt look like we need much
  10. It pretty much is in many ways. CP was an early representation for the bankers on the board. To think that he would ever have voted for refinancing is a joke, to claim that he is some kind of hero in the cause of the people of Liverpool is sicko fantasy time. He has done his job. No more, no less. Even to say thank you and good bye would be generous considering the footballing decisions he has presided over.
  11. Picked up a lot of fanbois after his world class stints as Switzerland and Finland supremo
  12. He did his job. No more, no less. Which is where? No one really knows. I'll say again, no one who had given this any thought claimed he was a stooge of H&G, it's clear he's been a bankers man all along. Basically by admission. I won't deny that he has played his role from the business end of supporting Broughton in the sale process. But his footballing decisions have been absolutely shocking and for this reason alone he is strictly surplus to requirements now.
  13. I agree there's a lot of chest beating and it's best to try to filter that out. I've posted my 'considered' view a few times while you've been hiding away from the Hodgson storm.
  14. Completely unsurprised you're out of the woodwork spouting this again. Do you actually read any of the criticism of CP? It isn't because 'we can't get over Rafa', DH. It is a bit more considered than that. My view on this doesn't become totally polarised just because you keep telling me it is.
  15. Being Hick's lapdog is the last thing most of the more considered criticism has levelled at CP. Regardless of any sale, he has to go. Thanks for helping to get rid of the owners, shame you managed to disrespect just about every Liverpool tradition while doing so, and made the most criminal management decision this club has seen in my lifetime. And no, just because Henry Winter is trying to airbrush your name out of the appointment of Hodgson and firing the bullet at Rafa, you're still guilty. Re: new owners. Surely the only response can be 'wait and see'?
  16. Legal reps of half the clubs in the Premier League I imagine

    Poulsen

    lol
  18. YNWA Davey F!
  19. Maybe not, but coming from someone who posted so much bile about the previous manager it doesn't add up to a convincing argument I'm afraid.
  20. Owners first, for sure. But Purslow must follow.
  21. 1. Bring 2. Back 3. Benitez
  22. Seeing as DH hasn't posted back in this sensible discussion am I to assume it was just a piss take thread?
  23. Naturally I have judged already, but I actually don't blame Roy Hodgson. There's no shame in being a decent manager who doesn't have what it takes to manage LFC. If anything this whole episode brings home the fact that we need a manager who is not just tactically accomplished, nor able to handle the star names. As well as this we need someone with the personality and vision to stamp their authority all over this club, and of course, with the current owners we couldn't have this man even if we could afford him. In fact it's decidedly worrying whether we could be taken over by anyone who would have the maturity to employ a manager of this type. But it is what we desperately need and we will never win 19 without them. The Mancs will have the same problem when their current manager retires, Chelsea needed it to get started, even West Germany needed it back in the day when they gave Beckenbauer the reigns. He wasn't the greatest manager ever, but he had the personality and authority to carry it on his shoulders, and win the respect of both the players and the fans. Everything that Shanks did for us is gone now, and the last vestiges of it went when Rafa was fired. Of course the owners are the root cause of everything here - sorry, I can't pin all the blame on David Moores for this - but for me the next most essential casualty has to be Purslow. This man knew exactly what Rafa was achieving with this team. Massive over achievement and holding the tattered shreds of this club together almost single handedly, yet Purslow's verdict was to undermine him via his tabloid press buddies, spreading utter filth about the one man in the club hierarchy who was battling 24-7 for the supporters and community of this club. Don't give me Steve Gerrard or Jamie Carra, f***ing Rafa Benitez was the finger in the dyke. f*** you Purslow. f*** f***ing you.
  24. Gunga Din has been saying it for a start. Don't know if he counts, but he has been saying it.
  25. He did not. He absolutely did not.
