  1. Nah, I don't mean household names at all. I'm not convinced by his game on the ground. Then again, I would never have thought that Hyypia would turn out so well so... Followed Klopp from Mainz...
  2. Or the fact that the CL and league TV deals have made it almost impossible for any club outside a select group of maybe 10 or 12 in Europe to win a big title apart from freakish groups of results (the CL semi-finalists the year Mourinho won it with Porto) or domestic cups.
  3. Mertesacker would be no where near my ideal LFC team
  4. The King vs Ferguson in a week's time? Kinell. Too good to be true. I bet he would love it n'all.
  5. Which is my point. Last time we were in the market for a young manager with potential there were obvious targets. This time it is not so easy.
  6. Possibly plateaued and needs a bigger stage to up his game? I think your reservations are justified, btw. But as I have posted many times, there are no up and coming prospects with a track record.
  7. Or maybe his wages. I bet he's on a huge slice.
  8. Absolutely. Take some balls from FSG, that.
  9. Signs are there this season, I think. Little injuries...
  10. A gamble on top of a failed gamble *shudder* Totally agree that the time and patience will be there if there is even a few signs of good footy - see Rafa's first season, horrible form all over the place, yet we were out there pressing it, controlling games for long periods. After the Houllier years it was a joy to see, even if the results weren't always there
  11. Good post above, Rory. I agree with your conclusion about the riskiness of appointing a young manager, regardless of where they are currently working. What's interesting for me, and a nightmare for our owners, is that there are not any REALLY strong candidates this time, not like there were when we appointed Rafa. We could have chosen him or gone for Mourinho at least safe in the knowledge that they had been able to perform proper impressive feats at their previous clubs, including European AND domestic success with strong sides, but not the strongest. The current crop mentioned are doing well, they have potential, but they haven't demonstrated their ability to win major honours really - Deschamps OK, kind of, and Rijkaard with questions over how impressive he was given the resources available... I think it's impossible for us as fans to chose between them because there are so many unknowns - cultural issues, willingness to work in the FSG hierarchy, ability to handle a really big job - which can only be hinted at through contact between the board and the managers themselves. Who could have foreseen that Benitez would have been SUCH a good fit for us? Speaking of which... he has a lot in has favour compared to the names we are being linked with IMO... whilst I also think there is very little concretely linking us with those names beyond Internet chatter
  12. Are they not good examples of 442s which really weren't 442s? Especially the arsenal one you could say was pushing towards being a 4231, at least it would still be considered a modern formation. The Utd one was basically the one which Ferguson decided had had its day, too.
  13. Happy with the 3 points and he looked gone... *fingers f***ing crossed* He can f*** off with applauding the Kop at the end the shallow c***
  14. Been fired up all game, just came out the wrong way first half.
  15. Was my impression based upon both seeing the teamsheet and the way we've played the ball around. He looks well gone. Nothing much in attack though, is there? We had a fair amount of the ball but it was mostly fairly easy going for Bolton Torres, what a friggin player, but kinell he can do my head in with the falling over and aggro with Cahill (or whoever he's marked by). Seriously, lad, just let your football do the talking there, your a class above him. Bit lucky with the face push thing, I thought.
  16. Smells like him again. Hard to like LFC these days.
  17. And as we already know, plenty in Anfield were keen to stick it to Torres during the Wolves game and whoever is briefing for this will be aware of that. Nice. I'm expecting this tactic to continue.
  18. The thing about Roy having a go at the fans' support which is galling is that he HAS had it as far as I can tell. He hasn't had Rafa chanted at Anfield (until possibly last night), he hasn't had Dalglish chanted. He has served up s**** and embarrassed the whole club through his pathetic public ramblings and performances and it has still taken until midway through the season for the supporters to start complaining properly. He does not f***ing get LFC. AT ALL.
  19. Was going to say exactly the same. Maybe FSG have the same idea...
  20. You're not good enough supporters and drawing the Mancs in the FA Cup has scared me. Could a Liverpool manager do worse than this?
  21. More likely doing their usual 'write what the bbc wrote a few hours ago' investigative journalism
  22. I'll answer that one for you. There isn't.
  23. Haha. wtf
  24. raise you an Agger and Skrtel
