  1. could rafa be signing him as a utility player though? not only can he play left and right wing but he has also played striker for ireland on many occasion.
  2. his advisor is a guy called Pat Devlin, who is manager of Bray Wanderers FC in Ireland. He is v close to Kenny Dalglish, they are v good friends which is why newcastle used to do a pre season in bray when kenny was in charge. it may well be that he scouted for kenny, but i dont know. but if we are in talks with duff then i'm sure/i hope the club would use kenny's relationship with devlin to swing it our way.
  3. he is guilty, and the reason he got off was on a point of law. pure technicality, as was mentioned by the judge in his judgement. he threw games for liverpool. so unfortunately that wipes him off all legendary lists.

  7. sporting life Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry is insisting Liverpool's new stadium plans will not collapse as Rafael Benitez continues his search for new players. It is believed that Benitez returned to Spain after Saturday's friendly win at Wrexham in an attempt to tie up deals and, back on Merseyside, Parry was intent on allaying fears over the club's new ground plans in nearby Stanley Park. Doubts have been expressed over the scheme to replace Anfield with a 60,000-capacity stadium as the cost is claimed to have spiralled to nearly £190million. Liverpool must also come up with proof they have raised the money for the new ground by the end of the month, or they could lose grants totalling almost £20million to cover the new stadium's outside infrastructure from the EU and the Northwest Development Agency. Liverpool have been in lengthy negotiations to raise the capital from the private sector, and Parry - in a BBC Five Live interview - said: "There is a lot of work going on and the situation is coming to a head relatively soon. "It is a hugely important project and we are certainly looking at a matter of weeks and it is still something we are determined to bring off, too much work has gone into it for us to fail at this hurdle." The same attitude could apply to Benitez, who is trying to end the saga of his bid to land Sevilla's Brazilian full back Daniel Alves, the sticking point being the £12million asking price. He has also been linked with Real Madrid's 29-year-old forward Guti and Feyenoord's Holland international Dirk Kuyt. Kuyt's future could also be coming to a head with the striker asking for time off from training to think about his future. He told AD Sportwereld: "I have an arrangement with Feyenoord coach Erwin Koeman that I can take some more days to think about my future." Newcastle, looking for a replacement for the injured Michael Owen, are also interested. Benitez has also been linked with a loan move for Juventus' French striker David Trezeguet. It looks like the £1.7million deal for 19-year-old Antonio Barragan at Deportivo La Coruna, is also near to completion. The Spanish club's president August Cesar Lenora said on the club's website: "All that remains for the move to be completed is for the documents to be signed." Benitez will want his transfer moves to be completed before the squad travels to Austria next Tuesday for a training camp that will include three friendlies. By the time they return they will know their opponents in the Champions League third qualifying round - the draw is on July 28 - and they have been boosted by confirmation from UEFA that if they reach the group stages they will be fourth seed in the tournament with only Barcelona, Real Madrid and Inter Milan ahead of them. Manchester United and Arsenal would also be in the top group, but Chelsea will be in the second group of seeds

    Darren Bent

i think charlton are making a buig mistake in not selling him. without curbishley i think they will struggle, and bent will not scpre as many next season as defenders will know him a lot more. charlton will struggle this year and then bent will be sold for less than this summer. unless of course he starts banging them inf or england

    Alves

will the imminent offloading of cisse trigger a deal being done? maybe the club want to make sure the cisse deal is signed, sealed and delivered before going ahead with alves for cashflow reasons?

  23. How very DARE you...
  24. i disagree with that to be honest. yes he looked like he was trying, but they all looked like they were trying i thought, they just dont play well as a team. ive only ever seen kuyt play in the world cup and not before, and hes been very poor from seeing him in the world cup, but im not stupid enough to judge him on that, he obviously scores goals and just had a bad tournament. what concerned me the most about kuyt was that his attitude, he didnt stop moaning. last night, from the start of the game, anytime someone didnt pass to him, he threw his hands up in the air and started whinging about it, he was clapping costhina's red card, clapping him off the pitch. didnt like it at all
  25. take kenny out of the equation and IMO john barnes is the best player that has donned the red short in terms of raw talent and consistent performance. he is one of the legends snd if anyone hasnt read his book, then do it, its a great read,
