  8. we seem to have a problem with teams who pack their midfield. it seems we try and play the ball over them when we should be able to pass through them or use the wings to spread them out. but we didnt do that today would like to have seen pennant and gonzalez on from the start
  9. gross over reaction
  10. so what if he had 2 players go off. who were the 3 normal starters who weren't picked by rafa to start? no excuses, they deservedly battled a draw. they looked much hungrier than us. we should have won, but we didnt and its only ourselves we can blame

    WARNOCK:

Warnock has brief moment of endearment Sheffield United boss Neil Warnock might not be everyone's favourite opposition manager but the outspoken Blades boss has spoken with pride about the time he became a passionate Liverpool supporter for one night only. While Liverpool were reeling from a nightmare first-half against AC Milan in Turkey, Warnock - who grew up supporting the club he now manages - was watching the final on TV while on holiday in Greece. "They say you always remember where you were when Kennedy was shot," claims Warnock, who insists he has a nice bottle of red wine waiting for Rafael Benitez in his office at Bramall Lane. "Well, I remember where I was when Liverpool were 3-0 down to AC Milan in the Champions League Final. I was on holiday in Greece in a place full of Italians. "I remember thinking whether I should go to bed because the Italians were taking the p*** out of me. But I thought I would stop and I was the only Englishman to last into the second-half! "Then the first goal from 25 yards. Did I cheer? I bloody did. I ran round the room. By the third one, even the Italians were giving me high-fives. It was a brilliant night."
  14. The first Merseyside derby of the season will take place this Saturday between the Everton website www.nsno.co.uk and the Liverpool website, www.thisisanfield.com . The match will be taking place in between Goodison Park and Anfield on Stanley Park with kick off at 10.30am. This isn't just a match for a set of Liverpool and Everton fans to kick each other. It has a match that has been set up between the two websites and there will be donations being made by both sets of players and spectators who are watching. The two chosen charities are the Everton Former Players Foundation (www.efpf.co.uk) and the Hillsbrough Justice Campaign. Not only is this match for a good cause because of the money being donated to help these worthwhile organisations, it also shows how Liverpool and Everton fans can work together. In a time when the Merseyside derby seems to be full of bitterness and hatred, it is nice to see that the two sets of fans working together in good spirits just like in the past when the derby was known as 'The Friendly Derby.' While the two teams off the pitch may have been friendly and helpful in organising the match, this affair will be anything but friendly once the match kicks off! Everyone is welcome to come and support either team and, or, just make a donation with kick off at 10.30am on Saturday morning at Stanley Park.
  15. too many cooks.... dont want us to sign any more unless we need to replace kromkamp more signings might upset the fine balance we seem to have now. nice competition for places now and we have a strong bench if you compare a possible bench now of dudek, momo, fowler/crouch, agger, kewell, riise/warnock to the houllier bench of diao, biscan, le tallec, mellor etc.... it just doesnt compare
  16. "Wowch....thish ish like...sho ninetiesh man..."
  17. no wonder there was a delay in his signing, he probably came on here and read the comments and got terribly self conscious and moores had to take him out for dinner last night to woo him back...
  18. mad is right he must be mad to take the 18 shirt for us ahead of the mythical nooomber 9 shirt of the all conquering "id love it if we beat them" barcodes
  19. It's Official!! now i can stop hitting the refresh button on the homepage and finally get some work done! Wearing No. 18 Dirk Kuyt today completed his move from Feyenoord to Liverpool with manager Rafael Benitez insisting: "He'll score a lot of goals for us." The Dutch international has officially put pen to paper on his Anfield deal and could be in line to make an instant debut at Sheffield United tomorrow. Benitez has been tracking the 26 year old striker for some time and he admits he's relieved to have finally got his man. He said: "I am really happy. We were looking at Dirk for a long time and I'm pleased we have signed him because he will be a good player for us. "He's a player with good game intelligence. He knows what to do with the ball and without the ball and he's also a very good worker. "His movement is good, his finishing is fantastic and I know he will score a lot of goals for us because we now have more possibilities in the wide areas and also between the lines." Kuyt, who will wear number 18, becomes the sixth new face to arrive at Anfield over the summer and while the manager is more than pleased with his new signings, he is keen to pay tribute to those players who have left the club since the end of last season. He added: "I would like to say thankyou to all of them. We have sold some players and others have left on loan but they have all given a lot of good things to the club over recent years and I'd like to wish them good luck with their new clubs. "It was important for us to strengthen this season and I'm really pleased with the backing we've had from the board. "We've signed players who haven't been really expensive but who are of good quality and who we know will do a good job for us."
  20. if he's not signed by now (12pm) then he cant play tomorrow. is that right? think he would have been announced by now though eh? not worried or anything :-)

say on sky that hes given up on playing for us as we dont want him whats the story with his contract? he must have a few years left or is it almost up? given that hes now an england international, surely we could recoup most if not all of the initial outlay on him?
  22. i'd rather tell myself its unlikely to avoid disappointment » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «but i fookin know we are
  23. not just the players, some of us, including myself, are getting a bit carried away. Offal Rafael Benitez has told his players to take no notice of the hype surrounding a possible title success for Liverpool this season. While Chelsea remain the favourites to once again land the top prize, many fans and pundits have tipped the Reds as their main challengers after another summer of rebuilding at Anfield which has seen Benitez strengthen his squad in key areas. Last weekend's victory over Chelsea has also added to the belief in many peoples minds that Liverpool could topple Jose Mourinho's men this season, but the Reds' boss is keeping his feet firmly on the ground and working to ensure his players stay focused for the long campaign ahead. On the eve of the new season he told Liverpoolfc.tv: "The important thing now is for us to stay calm. We know a lot of people are talking about us as a team who can win the league this season, but we have to just analyse the situation and do all we can to improve and think about the future. "Of course we want to win games and win trophies but this is going to be a long race and we need to be careful because if we say we're going to do this and we're going to do that then it would be wrong. We need to take things one step at a time. "It's important we keep the players focused and not start thinking we're better than we are at this moment." Benitez expects his side to be competing at the top end of the table this year but he's well aware there are a number of other clubs capable of winning the race for championship glory. He said: "I've been watching what other clubs have been doing this summer and it's clear that many of them have improved. "We have to talk about Chelsea again, Manchester United continue to buy players and Arsenal have a good young team who will be more experienced this year. "I also think Tottenham have a good side and a lot of good players so maybe they could be a surprise team."
  24. Liverpool are hoping to complete the signing of Dirk Kuyt from Feyenoord this morning. The Dutch striker underwent a medical yesterday and will officially sign his new Anfield contract as soon as the test results have been approved. "We hope the results will prove to be satisfactory. All being well it will go through this morning," confirmed Chief Executive Rick Parry.
