17. For OOC'ers - Free flights, match tickets and Rick Parry to ring up and speak to your boss to get you time off for all major Cup Finals if you can prove you know all the words to at least twenty five proper songs (not including FOAR, but does include "F*&K OFF WHITESIDE" and anything to do with Luton sides of the eighties).
Is right! OOC'ers too. As an aside, I find it amusing that living overseas and having a Scouse accent, everyone naturally assumes you support Liverpool. Its only "brits" who ask if you are Red or blue. It must be orrible for bluenoses who go overseas and say they are from Liverpool and then have to explain to locals that there's another team. Must be how Espanyol or 1860 Munich fans feel also. When I say I'm from Liverpool, its like "you know - football? Istanbul? The Beatles?"
Its always the same with him, blaming everyone else when he sold his story to the s*n and pocketed hundreds of thousands of pounds. The poor little lad must have a great big pile of s**t for brains or something. EIther that or he is an out and out gobsh*te.
Dunno what all the fuss is about - international calibre goalkeeper uses gloved hand to stop goalbound shot shocker!!?!!???! Big wow! Thats what he is paid a billion euros a week to do. I don't expect people to go on and on for over a year about something I might do in my job blah blah blah. (I've just got a cob on cos I am going to miss the first half hour of the game today, so don't mind me)
That debut he had for Blackburn away at Palace (I think) marks him down as one of the best forwards i've ever seen. And don't forget that it was Kenny who signed him. Got frustrated at Newcastle though, I think, and believed in the hype too much so thinks he can get away with all the fouling. If we'd got him a couple of years ago when there was talk of him leaving we'd have got a cracking player for a year or two.
Walsh? Nah. His only problem was that Kenny was still able to get about so he couldn't get in the team. As Bao said, any game we went behind or were drawing in the second half you'd hear everyone singing for Walshie to come on. In a way maybe Walsh brought the best out of Kenny in the last year or two. This young flash cockney kid with all his flicks and backheels and dribbles seemed to give Kenny something to compete with again and, of course, he wiped the floor with him. Ziiiiiiiiiiico!
Great stuff. Funny to think now how he was the 'weak link' at full back cos he couldnt pass a ball. And then when he switched to centre back against Arsenal and was ripped to shreds by Henry. Good interview that.
Nothing surprises me with them anymore, unfortunately. A long time mate who is a "better blue la" went off on one after a few whiskeys the other week and spewed every nasty arlarse bit of bile to do with Shields, Heysel and even Hillsborough (despite also claiming that an uncle and a mate had died that day) out in one half hour session. Must have been carrying all that round for years but this was the first time I'd heard it from this one. I'd only count one blue I know now as being old school, ie you could travel to a match with him there and back and not get into a load of bitter sh*te - banter yes, but bullsh*t no. We talked a few months ago about whether a big occasion like an all Mersey Cup Final might turn things around - we both remember travelling down on the train for the finals in the eighties and what a buzz it was all bevvying round Covent Garden together and all that gear - and take us back to where we used to be but I'm not sure the damage can be fixed between us and the infidels anymore.
