  1. Sometimes our heroes turn 'villians' referring to Pepe's mistake, without that we'd have gone through. However losing as we did seemed more heroic than sad, until I woke up to read Man u had made it to the semi's .... guess how ? 1-0 ..... the world seems unfair !

    Agger

This is the point IMO - Agger CAN defend as well as Skrtel, but Skrtel doesn't SEEM able to attack as well as Agger - Therefore we NEED to keep Agger IMO.
  3. more than that I want their confidence shot to pieces
  4. This is my hope Win all our games, win the league
  5. I want the mancs beaten humiliated and losing confidence ...
  6. Agree with that - it's interesting that all we need to do is win 3-0 but everyone, myself included thinks the score will be 2-4 in our favor
  7. How good is this guy?
  8. you could also argue, they know we need 3 therefore if we have 2 or more with 30 mins to go they'll panic
  9. There's irony of our losing the first leg to Chelsea (in the CL). It comes from the fact that the team were more focussed on the league ( for the first time in a while) and Chelsea brought their A game. What happens next depends a lot on how much the team is wants the CL over the PL.. On our day we can take anybody. Needing to score 3 goals is not as big an ask as it seems considering we've recently beaten several teams by that score-line. If we score 2 quick goals I'm confident Chelsea will panic..
  10. Nowt we can do about that, sometimes its not the team that makes their luck, it's the situation. I'll just hang on to my belief, win all our games, win the league
  11. Woke up this morning with an image of michael caine in that marathon movie, where he limps into the stadium barely able to run and gets overtaken on the line by a fitter faster runner. We're that fitter faster runner, and if the finish line's not too close we'll catch them. Win all our games, win the league
  12. on the first one, you can only beat the keeper in front of you. on the second one seems the keepers reactions are slow or there's poor anticipation hence diving backward.
  13. thought I heard there was a 50m payment to the winner of the league - imagine if we did the double, that would be 80m in prize money. Definitely would help the transfer budget
  14. How Liverpool can still beat Chelsea to reach Champions League semi-finals Five things Liverpool can do to overcome the 3-1 deficit in their Champions League quarter-final second leg against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. By Steve Wilson Last Updated: 2:22PM BST 13 Apr 2009 Keep the faith: Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres offer Liverpool's best hope of scoring the three goals they need to put Chelsea out of the Champions League 1 – Employ their midfield generals At Anfield Chelsea dominated midfield with both work rate and exceptional passing. Frank Lampard and Michael Ballack showcased the modern midfielder’s art in tidying up in front of defence and surging forward to launch attacks at will. Lucas was out of his depth in that environment but Javier Mascherano, who is back for the return leg, is unlikely to be as easily bullied and if he and Xabi Alonso can shut down Ballack and Lampard and use what possession Liverpool have effectively they will be in a better position to dictate play. 2 – Free Stevie G Rafa Benitez needs to be bold. After Fernando Torres, the most reliable source of the three or more goals Liverpool need is Steven Gerrard. If fit, the Liverpool captain must be pushed forward to support Torres more closely in a 4-4-2 formation, with Gerrard playing the support striker – leaving Mascherno and Alonso to take care of business in the middle – and his goal threat will be increased. Michael Essien, should he be asked to do another man marking job on Gerrard, would also be forced further back and inevitably wander into Chelsea defenders’ territory where responsibility to pick up Gerrard would become confused. 3 – Get in the zone While Liverpool need to score, conceding will make life even more difficult. Losing two goals to simple set pieces at Anfield questioned the wisdom of Benitez’s zonal marking system. Should Liverpool persist with it they need to communicate better when players run across their space to avoid a repeat of Branislav Ivanovic’s almost free headers. Chelsea are a bigger side than Liverpool – despite the absence through suspension of John Terry – and so Sami Hyypia’s presence in place of Martin Skrtel, who had a shocker in the first leg, might improve things in that department, though with a loss of pace on the ground. Better still, abandon the ploy and revert to man-to-man marking, just this once. 4 – Win their personal battles At Anfield Skrtel was bullied in to submission by Didier Drogba, Essien had Gerrard in his pocket all night while Ashley Cole, Lampard and Ballack reminded us all of their quality and even Florent Malouda justified his starting place. With Terry absent and his likely replacement, Richard Carvalho, just back from injury to partner the less assured Alex, Torres can make hay with his fleetness of movement and thought. If Liverpool do go 4-4-2 then Albert Riera needs to ask questions defensively of Ivanovic, while Dirk Kuyt is capable of harrying Cole to distraction. Alonso and Mascherano need to claim the midfield off Ballack and Lampard. Simple, eh? 5 – Evoke the spirit of Istanbul As chastening an experience as the first leg was, this Liverpool side is not one that is easily broken and they have already gone to the home of the European and Premier League Champions and won by three goals this season in the sacking of Old Trafford. They may have only twice scored three goals or more at Stamford Bridge in competitive matches and failed to win any of their Champions league fixtures there but what’s three goals in 90 minutes to a club who pulled off the trick in six minutes in a Champions League final? http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...emi-finals.html
  15. Say WHAT !!!!
  16. This is the problem with wide players. Just about every wide player people mention IMO don't contribute enough goals and/or assists to make our team better. In this light Kuyt has done an amazing job being converted from a striker into a hard working right attack. The thing is though while Kuyts contributions have become the baseline ( roughly 1 goal in 3 games), Kuyt lacks the guile to be effective when the team comes to defend or they put an extra man on him. This is where we need to improve we need someone that can either better the 1 goal in 3 1 assist in 4/5 baseline of Kuyt or can break down packed defenses better than Kuyt. Strange is it sounds, that's not easy to find.
  17. Flanders your point about needing someone who can play wing and cover for Torres is what I think Babel was bought for. He's failing at that IMO, but Henry would give us 3 years and definitely be able to cover for Torres and play LA ( which is what he's doing for Barca). Would love to have him here, even though he wouldn't track back enough for Rafa.
  18. 1/3 is good for a wide player, hope his injuries are behind him now. How ironic would it be if we had Aguero playing a wide position with Torres as the central striker?
  19. Hasn't Maxi been poor for a few seasons ? and I don't recall Aguero and Torres playing well together either
  20. Hobbs, Leto and all these youngsters we sell ... we must get SELL ON FEES
  21. That's what pisses me off - they don't deserve the title
  22. Magic8Ball

    Agger

IF that's true, then he's worth 65-70 IMO
  23. Don't think Robben would be a game changer for us, and while Ribery looks the part I just don't know if he could reproduce that performance at Liverpool. What we need are players that can play in ANY of the 3 positions behind Torres and still score/change games.
  24. the unspoken rule is liverpool players and managers TYPICALLY don't get knighthoods
  25. Magic8Ball

    Agger

What's he really worth? How much are the other defenders on ?
