  6. Owen wound down his contract to get a move to a 'bigger' club. He then joined Newcastle to secure his place in the England team. His aim is now to be back before the end of the season and despite everything Freddie Shephard says he will be pushing himself to make the England set up for the 2 games in June regardless of the risk it will put him in in terms of being fit for Newcastles preseason. He is now 27, has played 11 clubs games in 2 years (quoting an earlier post) so how much time do you want to give him to prove he has recovered from those injuries? 1 season? 18 months? at which stage he will be pushing 29. At that age he may be an attractive buy for Bolton or maybe Middlesboro. His time here is gone, finished. I know he scored goals for us years ago but he is not the saviour and to buy him back would be a huge risk. Put it another way, if he is our one and only centre forward signing this summer I would be majorly pissed off.
  7. Assuming that a striker and a wide right sided player comes in I cant see anything other than Leto/Gonzales contesting for left midfield. Gonzales has been injured a lot and not had a run in the team. Leto, while the prospects sound good, will take time to adapt - he wont get the chance if he's up against Gonzales AND a £15million pound signing. If anything is to change on the left in terms of players coming in I expect it at left back. Aurelio has been 'okay' this season nothing more. Riises form has varied from okay to woeful, shipping these two out and with Insua as a backup to a potential long term left back replacement seems more likely than adding to left midfield and leaving us with 2 new players out of 4 in the starting midfield lineup.
  8. McLaren couldnt outwit Steve Staunton. Its hilarious
  9. Man U will beat Roma 10-0 away and 14-0 at home going thru 24-0 on agg. Regardless of who they meet in the semi they will win both legs 5-0 and go thru 10-0 on agg In the final they will meet PSV who battered us 6-0 in Holland and steamrollered us 8-0 at Anfield. Man Utd will be 7 up at half time and run out eventual winners by a scoreline of 12-0 Someone else can add the obligatory 'Please let this be true' comment to complete the mockerdom
  10. what no sign of an 'innit guv' anywhere? its a fake!
  11. NO dont want to have to go thru the agony of that. the fear and the dread would be too much no matter how much faith I have in Rafa. Dont want to meet them in the quaters, the semis or the final, Not at ALL. PLEASE NO Let them kick f*** out of Chelsea twice and not face us ANYONE, ANYONE but those horrible manc c**** PLEASE!
  12. YES I have a feeling we will get Bayern Munich though. to be honest I'd be happy with that seeing as theyre in the middle of my wishlist of who/who not to face!
  13. worst draw imaginable for me is us v the mancs. dont want that at ANY stage of the competition. Ideally I'd like to see Mancs v Chavs Lots of chances for a nigglying game, lots of sly fouls and the prospect of 2 english teams teams tearing into each other, while being watched by a european ref can only amount to a lot of yellow cards in each game. The benefit of this is that players will be suspended for the Semi 1st Leg or on a yellow, one card away from a suspension for the return leg. I want the mancs out, hopefully as I said, they get chelsea and they each kick f*** out of each other for 180 minutes and all that goes with it. Dont care who we get (apart from MU or C), but want to avoid Valencia. So apart from the mans, chelsea and Valencia, anything else is fine. I think Milan are trading on past glories, they really struggled against a workmanlike team last night but one with little skill with the 'tactical' brain of Strachan. I reckon we could do Milan over 2 legs. Teams to draw in order of preference PSV Milan Roma Bayern Valencia Chelsea Mancs Please give me Chelsea V Mancs (yellow card heaven) Bayern v Valencia (the germans winning would be 'heaven'!) Roma v Milan (kickboxing yellow/red card heaven) PSV v Liverpool (red(men) heaven)
  14. reminds me of that post someone did a few days back comparing our players v Barcas and how ours were so so so poor in comparison. Flatulence.
  15. if they do win, they will claim the European Cup for that year - hey at least then they can pretend to have one. Cant see much take for an open top bus thru the streets of Liverpool though.
  16. Only just over 20 years ago but I found this to be a stark example of how the game has changed in the past 2 decades. Watford v Argyle Ordinary people first, then footballers, then once again ordinary people - the vast majority of them. Cant see too many of the current lot being van drivers, probation officers or brickies in 20 years time.

  19. the mockers are Everton based?
  20. Chelsea v Man Utd And before anyone says it: Please let this be true! Roma v Milan Possibility for loads of yellows there and suspensions for the semis I think.
  21. yep Pleat was bigging Rafa up for his tactics all thru the game saying how he was way ahead of Rijkaard in both games and kept praising the defensive strength
  22. thought Reinas handling was spot on aswell
  23. The italians have solved their off the field problems by getting all the agro sorted on the pitch.
