Prior to this league win the last one was under Del Bosque who also won the CL and he got sacked so there is certainly a precedent for Capello getting the door. Given Reals' trigger happy finger I can't see why someone like Rafa, Wenger or anyone else with half a brain would ever think of going there as they'd get no more than 2 years there - irrespective of what was won, thereby making the idea of building a team to suit their needs a complete non-runner. Real have been a circus for a number of years, the concept of having a manager there for 3 years and building his own team is alien to the meddling gits upstairs. It must be incredibly frustrating for the fans to put up with that s****. As an aside, How many managers (temporary or otherwise) have they had in the last 10 years? Must be 20 plus. - edit forget it - answer is 12 since January 96 P W D L % Arsenio Iglesias January 1996 May 1996 19 10 4 5 52.63% Fabio Capello May 1996 June 1997 42 27 11 4 64.29% Jupp Heynckes June 1997 May 1998 38 17 12 9 44.74% Guus Hiddink May 1998 February 1999 23 11 4 8 47.83% John Toshack February 1999 November 1999 26 13 7 6 50% Vicente Del Bosque November 1999 June 2003 141 78 37 26 55.32% Carlos Queiroz June 2003 May 2004 38 21 7 10 55.26% José Antonio Camacho May 2004 September 2004 3 2 0 1 66.67% Mariano García Remón September 2004 Dec 2004 13 7 2 4 53.85% Vanderlei Luxemburgo December 2004 Dec 2005 35 23 4 8 65.71% Juan Ramón López Caro December 2005 May 2006 24 12 9 3 50% Fabio Capello May 2006 Present 38 23 7 8 60.53% So no one gets more than a single year max apart from Del Bosque. Yeah I can see the appeal for top managers alright

10 Best players of all time
Cheesecake replied to Andy @ Allerton 's topic in General Football Discussion
Bit slow out of the blocks but I'll start things off with Ronny Rosenthal.... Now who hit the bar against Man U when we beat them 2-0 on a Sunday evening in December 95? Was it McManaman? -
he's thick-skinned is skinnywatra so he wont mind it

What the f*ck are we gonna do with all these CMs
Cheesecake replied to Ombudsam 's topic in Liverpool FC
What was evident from the game vs Milan was that we had nobody running from midfield into the box to get on the end of things - crosses, knock downs, half clearances or simply to put pressure on the oppo or really just linking play between midfield and attack. Gerrard did it to a degree but that took away from the attacking force itself. If Lucas is all he's cracked up to be (a version of Alonso only further forward) then I see him as the one to fill that role, ahead of Masch or perhaps in front of Masch and alongside Gerrard in the advance midfield role when we need to be more attack minded against certain opposition ---------Alonso - Masch--------- ----------------Lucas---------------- as a midfield three with a defensive hat on or ---------------Alonso OR Masch------------------ -----------Lucas--------------Gerrard------------ for a more attacking threat Whether you link that up with two strikes or two wingers and a lone striker is anyones guess, but Masch and Alonso in the middle, separated from the front two or with Gerrard and a striker up front leaves too big a gap for sustained attacking play as Alonso and Masch sit too deep and Gerrard cant do it all! Any such formation needs to be balanced with stikers and wingers, I'd favour having two attacking wingers and a lone striker, which means we're currently a minimum of 3 players short assuming that Gerrard isnt classed as an attacking winger (but can do a job there) and Crouch isnt your lone striker (but again can fill in). Malouda would be the obviously touted choice for the left. Gerrard or Pennant could be used on the right but I dont think Crouch is robust enough to be the lone striker (knockdowns aside) and Kuyt spends too much time/energy not being in the box. Ideally a Drogba (spit) type player is needed, strong, physical, with a Fowler like sense of where the goal is. -
wouldnt work cos Man U and Chelsea would have paid the refs more... allegedly

I remember the uproar when Diouf was unveiled as the 2nd best player of the year, based on the MOTM votings on here a while back. He had a great 6 months or so start of the season. Then Celtic happened and it all went downhill from there. He had an 'attitude problem', perhaps Rafa can evaluate that better than Ged but Ged made his share of good signings. He' probably gets stick cos of his last year in charge when we were pedestrian but that shouldnt undermine what he did previously. Irrespective of his placing in 'player of the year' I'm glad Diouf is gone. He's a c**k of the highest order.

Crouches third vs Arsenal. Superb skill, our best this season skillwise. From a raw emotion pov then Agger v Chavs in the semi final.

If i recall correctly his (Anelka) goal stats when he was here werent that impressive. Coupled with the fact that he has bounced from club to club, in a not too dissimilar way to Bellamy should be enough to anwer any questions as to whether he should come back. Bringing Anelka or Owen back would be a backwards step. Anelka would last a year tops, Owen would last about 3 games, then be out until the next international. Wouldnt be happy with the summer transfers if either was being considered as one of our front two next season. boat. sailed. etc.

finally a replacement for McLaren emerges from the shadows, same qualificationns mind...

what was it a german magazine said about how the english view women? oh yeah " they take the scankist bitches and view them as attractive" or something like that. if shes a lady its lady scank and i can only guess what he is. isnt it time people stopped seeing the beckhams as attractive and instead saw the reality of jumped up trackies with some notes in their pocket? are they different, are they special? are they f***. as for a royal reward be it knighthood or whatever, do me a favour, there are cops on the beat, nurses doctors who deserve it more that these two tossers. a waste or air those two c****.

wheres the blue bus with 'weve never won it ever' on it? Now thats comic genius... and whats more.... its true!

if england win, McLaren escapes execution, if he loses or draws, when will the execution take place? and, lately, will Beckham swing the axe?

Min Max D. Alves............................£18M....................£23M is it just me or does this seem ludicrous?

and attempting to rip up the ticket in front of his eyes is a classic Fawlty Towers moment I suppose?

£36m on Hargreaves and Carrick is a huge amount of money, and when you consider what youre getting for that (1 and a quarter Rio Ferdinands) its great business. I hope the mancs continue to overpay on such players, less of the Rooneys and Ronaldos please and more of the Carricks...

when the stadium announcer says 'there will be a minimum of 3 minutes added time' then thats waht I expect. not 2, not 1 but 3. This c*** blew early. That makes him a c*** end of. Perhaps Plats in his wisdom shoud have the announcement changed to 'there will be a minimum of 3 minutes added time or less if the referree wants'

Derrick you joined a few days ago, come on here and tell us x is s**** y is s****, anyone can do that. Some may do the same and be taken a bit more seriously because that have taken the time over this season and previous to point out the good (while at the same time seeing the bad). If youre a genuine fan then you must have seen some positives out these tonight? if you didnt then you really have nothing to add to any discussion about the game. Everyone is down - thats a given. But real fans, see progress, see promise even in a defeat like tonight. Miserable c**** see failure, badnes and awfulness. Which are you?

off the top of my head I can recall a number of goals where we did a similar thing in the CL alone this year - getting the better of a defence to score. If you want me to step thru every single game with you to compile a list then f*** off. Life is too short to be proving arguments to negative 'we were sh!te' merchants like yourself. Be negative all you want but ffs try to see the good when its in front of your nose. We've had a below par season league wise, an almost great one in Europe, if you want to nit pick and find faults, go ahead, not my fault all is dark grey and black in your world.

Ant - anything from the big man about the ticket chaos out there? And word from him yet?

Obvious dissapointment that we lost but I hope the above is a "final whistle moment" No belief? No desire? f*** off As for no quality? What f***ing game were you watching? The Ceefax version? FFS come down off your cloud where we steamroll everyone and get a sodding grip. dont think too many were under par. Thought Pennant was great, best player in the 1st half by a mile, he's been turinng it on in recent months and looks well fit to 'wear the shirt' - agree with the poster - he was one of the positives and if anyone thinks otherwise then fair enough your entitled to yours and all that but in my opinion anyone who thinks otherwise is a w*****, I thought he did great tonight, no one in the team, in his position could have done better. No doubt the doomsayers will say otherwise but fair play to LicK for saying he did good. My main problem is that we had little from midfield going forward when we had the ball in the attacking third. We missed an onrushing Gerrard there - an inevitablility given the line up trying to contain Milan. Team wise and performance wise I have no complaints. Zenden was decent in the first half and performed well IMO - it may be fashionable to bash him but fair due he was good in the first half, tired in the second admittedly but had a good first 45, had we a Pennant equivalent on the left in his place it may have been different. Kewell didnt make a big impact, too little time perhaps or maybe just not as 'in the zone' (sorry) as JP. Had we started with a Pennant on either flank we may well have ripped them a new one in the first half. Still, onwards and upwards, We got Milan in 2005 when they desevred it, they got us today. Honours even. memories, good and bad, to cherish, but always the name of LFC to fall back on in times of need like now. Poor form that comment. Your comment doesnt merit comment beyond that.

he we may be down but were still on top. a big 45 needed though Come on Red Men
-
maybe Kewell and Crouch after 60 mins for Zenden and Kuyt

jam ridden italian b******s f*** sake thats bad luck if we play like that second half we will score have to watch the counter attack though wouldnt chnage anything at HT, keep getting the ball wide, SG has to get in the box as much as possible cos with Alono and Mash in MF there is no one really getting up with play
