Yeah but that 2nd goal the other night was "running really fast" at it's best. He lamped it, legged it, lofted it. Simple but brilliant nah. Owen actually restructured his whole game by about 23 and could still score. Think he probs peaked at around 21 when he had some of the pace the 18 year old had but the nouse of a 28 year old. Still though the 17/18 year old was something special. -

This is such b0ll0x. There is no other country where you'd say don't buy players from that country cos they're all s***. No one is saying buy players exclusively from here. That would be a nuts policy. Just saying that it's helpful to have a core of players that are from the country the league is in as they know the culture and are less likely to want to leave thus giving you a stable base. No one is saying buy s*** English players.

Always thought he was a good player but thought rafa was wrong for buying him as he wasn't the sort of wide player i thought we needed. I was wrong. There's always a place for quality like his. I'm not sure he's ever been dynamic mind. The Argentine Nicky Barmby's don alright for us and I'm glad to have him here.

Henderson for £20mill now might in future look like getting Lampard for £11mill when chelsea did. Same theory with Carroll. If you're saying we could have got better players then yeah probably but it's not a science. They bought players that they thought could do the job. I know that you don't like Downing but he played really well last season.

I just can't see it in him. Bellamy, yeah. He'd be all over it. But Carroll strikes me as a really physically developed 12 year old who's parents have sent him to boarding school and he can't work out why they don't love him.
