I think he just saw Bellingham. That boy is something else. I think the Venables and Fowler thing was different. There was really good complementary partnership then. Look back at the strikers we had. Collymore didn’t get a sniff. These fellas could really play and not a sniff of being the main man or even a man. On Gerrard and Lampard, I used to think that you could stick Hargreaves or Carrick in between them. We did that for a couple of games in the 06 World Cup and it didn’t really shine. In fact I think the only thing that happened was that Hargreaves was outstanding v Portugal. The team should have just been about how to get Gerrard and Rooney in dangerous areas. Rafa tried to free him but he was too into his Roy Keane posters. I’d say let this go. You’ll be crying in 5-20 years time about a significant proportion of them. I bet you would have said Hendo was the absolute best among them and the epitome of all that was right as recently as the last time is was sunny in the mornings.

Klopp made that comment about De Bruyne’s return the other week. If he inspires City to the title I reckon Jurgen gets some of the credit for seeing it coming. Win Win!!

Bergkamp said we’re arsenal’s main challengers for the league. He said it about a month ago tbf. They had definitely worked out how to cause City issues but I can’t imagine Howe wanted them to give up quite so much territory and possession in doing so Imagine losing to us an City the way they have on their own ground.
