I'd rather have an "easy" opening than an easy run in. Its imperative for us to still be in touch by the end of october. The last couple of years we've been too far off early on and I think it would give the whole club a lot more confidence to be setting the pace right from the start.

Sorry, should have said track back with his man. He came back when the Irish full back was getting forward but there were a number of times when he left Steven Reid un marked especially in the 1st half. It was only a friendly anyway so I wouldn't be too worried about it and if you don't agree then you're obviously not going to be worried either!!

Gonzalez reminded me of C Ronaldo too. I think he'll be excellent for us. He was really good on the ball last night and seemed good at finding space. There were a couple of negatives for me, (which Rafa will no doubt work on) he didn't really track back at all and when he did it was more of a token effort. He also ran 50 yards on two occasions to confront the ref when it was nothing to do with him. As I said though its nothing that can't be worked on and I'm looking forward to seeing him in a Red jersey.

My favourite bit was Carra sprinting in Dudeks direction with the rest of the team and then the camera stays on Dudek and everyone jumping on him, while Carra had gone straight past him, wheeled around and made towards the stands. How he managed to do it after all the cramp he'd had was unbelievable.
