Wenger also sold Quincy Owusu Abyeie to a Moscow club for around 4 million. Overall he is incredible at developing and selling talent from a fincial prospective. Stokes is good business at the moment as its open to debate how good he will be.... He has made one or two mistakes down the years - 8 million for Jeffers I think and 8.5 for Van Bronkhurst. Wiltord as well 13/14 million - a tad pricey

LEts hope its better than the last time we played them in the group stages at Anfield. It was 3-1 to them (I think) but I remember they completely p!ssed all over us with the way they passed and moved the ball.

Anybody have this DVD and if so is it any good? (apart from the fact its about Liverpool!!)

This post makes no sense. THe reason Le Tallec is where he is, is because he isn't very good. Plain and simple FFS

It mainly down to Wenger and a lesser extent Brady. Players look at the way they play football (and the way they are encouraged to play) and say yeah I'd like abit of that. The resever team and youth teams are all encouraged to play the same way. Wenger philosophy transcends all teams at the club Stokes could have gone to any number of clubs but choose Arsenal for his footballing education - incidentally Wenger said last year he sees him as a Paul Scholes type central midfieler - Doesn't have the speed for upfront. Cesc was plucked from the Barca youth team - and he was playing for the arsenal first team at 16 - there was no mystery about how good he was hence why Barca were raging. Merida has recently gone the same route Bendnter camee over from Denmark when he just turned 17. Once again everybody knwo he was a great prospect. The same as Lupoli when he came over from Parma. THe same as Vela also Basically everbody knows alot of these players are very good prospects but I believe they simply choose Arsenal and the chance to work with Wenger over other clubs.

What did we pay for him? 6 or 7 mill - a bargain at that price for a keeper with great potential and he is English. Part of that goldern generation of young gifted and English keepers inlcuding Green and (young at heart) David James. Pi**ing away our f***ing money

Beckham - Would Rafa be interested in signing him?

We are not a circus like Real etc. We are Liverpool FC. I hope to god we never buy a player because of their malketing value. Beckham was a decent player in his time bit now he is s*** -

That's all very well & good but what about the person who currently puts out the corner flags - what will become of him? -
that's right - it was like watching Barnsey minus the goals

Not sure about this. If it is about appropriate progress then what do you do if we end up with less points this season than last season - sack him because we haven't made any progress? I didn't / don't expect him to win the league within a year or two but after 5 years if there is no joy than it defo time to reassess. May b if he is very close in a few years he will deserve more time
-
I'm not calling for his head or anything stupid like that but how long would you give him to try and win the league? I'd give him another two full seasons after this one( altough another CL would earn him an extension!).

That's a laughable comment considering your comment in the initial post - 'way below the standard required' 'woeful' 'this lad never had any class' You obviously don't rate Finnan full stop, regardsless of the perfromances he puts in. Why not f**k off and ring up Talk sport - your opinions might get some milage there. For what it worths I think Finnan is a decent full back, not world class, but there aren't many better in the Premier league.
-
Listen it really doesn't matter a f**k. I don't care about the CS and what that classless c**t says. Sunday is what matters, 3 points is what matters and the f**king league Championship is what matters.
-
Weren't me more advanced in our preparation then Chelsea as our competitive season started earlier than theirs? We'll see how Momo gets on Sunday - a bad game won't make him a bad player just as a good game won't make him a great one. I think Fowler is 4th choice as striker. Ultinmately the CS doesn;t count for boXXox regardsles of what you say. The real test is Sunday. I'd be happy with a point
-
But isn't this the way of the world? I mean after the meaningless friendly that is the Charity Shield against a half fit Chelsea Momo was the best midfielder in Europe. We signed player like Gonzalez and JP who were apparently world class...... Why are you so surprised by this. Over reaction goes both ways and in my IMO one is as bad as the other.

No Idea!! Just know its fairly recent and its sounds almost sad and brooding.........

What is the name of that song that we sung today just after we got the second. I heard it a good bit over the last season or two but don't know what it is called. Its kinda slow and its not YNWA(Duh!), ring of fire or Fields of ANfield Road

Yep - I'm gonna also. for this match the ground holds around 53000. My mate reckons there'll be around 15000 Irish there (not sure where he is geeting that figure from!) but should be a good atmosphere anyway My team would be: Given Carr dunne O'brien Finnan Ireland O'shea Reid Duff Doyle Keane Don't like moving finns around but unless you wann play Kilbane left full there is little choice. I like Ireland and think he is a better player than McGeady - takes less ot of the ball Gotta feeling Stans team will be something like: --------Given-------------- Carr dunne O'brien Kilbane ------Kavanagh------------- Finnan O'shea S Reid Duff ----------Keane

Can't agree with this. There is certainly a hard core element at club level in the GAA that play and administer the game at grassroots level. In terms of infrastructure the GAA are well ahead of the FAI in ensuring their game(s) are every well represented in nearly every parish in the country. However the fact that each county has thousands and thousands of band wagon jumpers every year they have a decent run in the championship does not equate to 'Irish people are FAR more passionate about hurling and gaelic football'. Most people are simply taking and showing abit of pride in their county. There was 80000 at the Dublin Westmeath game probably about 60000 dubs. do you think these are all hardened gaa fans?
-
So what you are saying is nobody in Ireland from outside cities and large towns are interested in football? Absolute rubbish. Well said. The truth is there are plenty of people with an interest in one or more of the main four sports - Gaelic football, hurling, football and rugby. Football is without doubt the most popular 1. football 2. gaelic football 3. Rugby 4. hurling. I'm not talking about participation merely an interest and support of a game.
