  1. Kenny Dalglish. Really hope I didn't jinx anything just now.
  2. Not so. However I have it from a very reliable source that this is all my his agent's fault and there is now nothing I Fernando Torres wants more than to play for Kenny and win trophies with this wonderful club.
  3. Le Tissier better than a player who was twice voted Serie A player of the year several during an era when Serie A was the best league in the world? Five times Italian player of the year, even European Golden Shoe (and seria a top goal scorer) once? Who has scored over 250 goals for Roma? Smiply no way.
  4. I am not either, but 60 is a LOT. We might hold our nerve but I'm not sure an offer of that magnitude would come again. That's a good point. Conversely, Chelsea will be similarly inhibited in their spending when the accounting starts. Will they still field 60m (assuming they have done so now of course). Actually, I think the 60m is believably purely on account of them knowing their spending ability will be constrained in the summer.
  5. I wouldn't be happy with Carrol. I don't want England's most promising for the number 9. I want the world's most promising, the calibre Torres was when he signed. Carrol is not in that league.
  6. I am sorry but that is absolutely thick. Of course the fee is relevant. We're not city, we don't have a bottomless well of money to draw from. 60m spent on players would strengthen the team more than Torres.
  7. This is chelsea we're talking about.
  8. rumour has it chelsea upped their bid to 60m. He can go now for that sum. not less though.
  9. I must be missing something here. How would convicing one of our top two players to stay when he wanted to leave upset the dressing room? I would have thought it would be a morale boost. I am implying that at least some of that money would fall into the bottomless hole of servicing G&H's debts. Worst case scenario, they might even have used that money to secure refinancing. Am also implying that whatever portion of that money given back to transfers would have been handed to Roy Hodgson to spend on players he fancied. We are surely much better off not having sold him in the summer.
  10. What do you mean 'what cost?' I think you forget who the owners were last summer. And who our manager was.
  11. Good point. All things considered, I will be rather annoyed if we don't put our foot down and tell him he can't go this window. There is simply no good reason to sell now. A sulky unhappy Torres in a red shirt till the end of the season is much better for us than money in the bank for four months any way you look at it.
  12. We should make plans for a future without him. But if he can be appeased, within reason, I think that would be the best outcome, barring silly money in the 60-70m region. Buying loas of players is great and all, but players like Torres is what makes the difference between clubs like Villa and even spurs, who have perpetual aspirations for the CL spots but never seem to quite make it. We can go out and buy the players to make up what we've lost on spurs (and even Arsenal( without too much difficulty. We just signed one, in fact. Finding players of Torres' calibre is incredibly difficult, especially if you are loathe to spend silly money on one player. Oh yeah, definitely do not se him signing any kind of contract until the summer. I imagine a scenario of "Fernando, wait until mid-july, let us sign the players we want (and line up your replacement as well, though we're not saying this to your face). Then it is up to you to sign a new contract or hand in a transfer request." It will obviously have to be one of the two. Can we stop with the rafa-ism? He's gone, he's not a miracle worker, not Torres' guru either and wouldn't be able to explain anything about Chelsea having never worked there. Let's look to the people actually employed with the club for solutions.
  13. Of course it could happen. I think an epic sales pitch from FSG combined with heavy investment early in the transfer window on the back of a strong finish to the season, maybe winning the europa league to boot, would change his mind. Not saying it's likely, but it could happen. Gerrard proved beyond all doubt that there is no such thing as burning your bridges in football.
  14. Love the third last goal. Ajax player free on goal has a man free of the keeper too on the right, picks out a slightly more difficult pass to Suarez who scores and then has to run over to the other man and apologise for not giving him the ball.
  15. From the UEFA European Cup regulations: Seems you're right, given that Ajax is now in the Europa League.
  16. AFAIK, we still can register one additional player who has played in a different european competition. I think what matters is whether he has played in the competition or not, not whether he is registered. Owen was registered for us before he left for Real wasn't he? Yet was left out so he could play for them later on.
  17. "Hello, love. Pardon me for saying so, but you look a lot like the girl that just dumped me yesterday." Don't.
  18. Suarez hasn't played in the Europa League has he? Then he is not. I want 50m and I want it in the summer.
  19. Could have been Broughton, couldn't it? He was the one in charge of finding new owners.
  20. good enough for now. I'll be less pissed off with him going in the summer.
  21. Torres is better than all of those bar Rush. And we're in a different situation these days. We won't be winning anything on slogans.
  22. It's a six hour momentum. United managed to hold on to Ronaldo for another year and he was blatantly telling the press he wanted to go. You tell him and Chelsea both they can deal in the summer. We should allow neither to f*** up the rest of ourt season with a transfer now.
  23. Don't kid yourself, mate. It will be our loss too. You'd think with the sales of Alonso and Mascherano, we'd have learned that by now.
