  1. With the exception of Gerrard you have a point. But we did great without him v United this season.
  2. I know it can't be switched on and off. It comes with good performances and results, we simply need to go for it. We as fans need to be up for the game tomorrow, and the players need to be as well. I don't expect us to t*** each team in sight, but it's what we need to do. We simply should not be in this situation, and the only way out of it playing the sort of football and displaying the attitude we did towards the back end of last season. If we are going to go into each game looking like scared little children then do you think the likes of Pompey and Wigan are going to be kind to us?
  3. Well thats all well and good if you want to basically take another 2 steps back to take one step forward. At the moment we are playing in a similar fashion and going the same route as we did towarsds the later era of Houllier. We can't allow ourselves to drop further, we need to pick up wins and performances soon. For the quality of our squad to be where it is now is un-acceptable. We need to t*** Wigan tomorrow, then t*** the next team, and so on and so forth. We need to go on a long run, we need confidence and we need to put this behind us. To take baby steps at this point is pointless, we are at risk of REALLY screwing up and we need to get out of this run of form and mindset ASAP. What exactly do you mean by gradual improvements?
  4. Clearly, because we are s***. But it's the only way confidence and time is going to be given to Rafa. Well from me anyway. We have no injury worries, at the moment and we are as near as full strength as you can be. It's all about the confidence...
  5. Well I think we'll be doomed for limbo. We need to go on a good run, I mean good convincing performances t***ting everyone in our path. I don't think he'll turn it around and lead us to future success now, I guess if we fail to get a good run going before Christmas then I have no reason he will ever.

    Aquilani must start
  7. Nothing really has changed IMO. I think the next few games are crucial, and if we don't turn it around then and continue fowards then we never will under Benitez.
  8. So if we go one more season without a trophy then you will want Rafa out?
  9. What abit like us do you mean?
  10. Better man management would have saw Hyypia here longer IMO.
  11. It's not a beautiful by gone, not yet, but it will be if people believe that it is. If you know what I mean
  12. What did you think when we scored last minute winners all the time? You make your own luck, we have been f***ing s****

    Convincing victory and performance
  14. We have a manager, I find this sort of talk disrespectful etc etc
  15. It's not a case of if I can see him turning it around, I can't see where he could turn it around.
  16. How much was Arsenal's side compared to ours?
  17. Did Villa make the CL Final Twice prior?
  18. Brilliant performance
  19. So do you think winning the league with arguably the best players at the time, at a side which was competing at the highest level previously, is a massive over achievement? I believed the fans played a momentous role in the CL win, thats not taking any credit away from Benitez, thats simply stating other factors. Had Gerrard not dragged us out of the s*** v Olympiakos there would have been no Istanbul. Small degrees etc.
  20. No, although that being said I think our support in Europe that season played an immeasurable part in our success. Talking to an Arsenal fan in Uni and he said that the fans won them games for us, and part of me agreed. We had no right to win the CL and the fact we did was incredible.
  21. If by belittling his Valencia achievements you mean me pointing out that he had some of the best players in the world at his disposal and a team which had competed in two prior CL finals, then yes, yes I did. Oh and Mourinho's team weren't exactly the best in Europe. Anyway, I wasn't downplaying Benitez's role in the 2005 CL win, I was merely pointing out that apart from Garcia and Alonso it still was Houllier's team, and it still to all intents and purposes a s*** team, proven by our League finish. Benitez is an astute European manager, and the CL is his key strength.
  22. He simply got the best out of a very bad bunch of players in a run of games. Who is to say another manager couldn't do that for us? I actually remember walking down after the Newcastle game and saying we should give him one more year to turn it around. Funny that.
  23. i remember that arl fella singing in the Oakfield, i think it was the night of the Sheff Utd game after we beat Barca. He was singing, collecting glasses etc. Jonesey took the piss out of him, still tickles me that.
  24. My posts are now moderated Negativland. Your gripe should not be with me, but the people who think this sort of posting is acceptable.
