  1. Everytime he has s*** on Liverpool it's usually came back to haunt the c*** anyway. Roll on May

  3. It's just valuations, before we know it we could be in a situation similar to the one we found ourselves with Owen.
  4. I seem to recall Xabi saying something similar to 'It's up to the clubs now' during the Confederations Cup, so it isn't all hysteria. Yes Xabi has said he wants to stay and is happy, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't be open to a move to Madrid, and yes Benitez has said we don't want to sell. Something is happening, yes perhaps the the details are 'sexed up' but I don't think it's all hysteria. They may have 3 years on their contracts, but next year it will be two (Sorry to point the obvious) but we could end up losing both players for 10 million less than what we would have originally got for them if we sold them now.
  5. Yeah, but he also doesn't look like he'll be going to Madrid kicking and screaming? I've got a feeling Xabi is keeping his mouth shut out of respect, letting the two clubs talk business.I'd like to see Benitez just turn around and say, we are not going to sell Xabi to Madrid, not 'We don't want to sell Xabi'. Hopefully Xabi will accept that, but I just don't want to fall into the trap of losing money for Xabi that we could have got previously. As David Hodgson said, if we sell Xabi and Masch we will have to change the way we play, we could end up putting Gerrard back into midfield to fill a gaping hole and then playing essentially the same system but with someone else to play the 'Gerrard role'. Xabi is key to how we 'tick' he's been a revelation IMO the season past and I really don't want him to leave, ideally I'd like to see us put the ball in Xabi's court, tell him we aren't going to sell him and offer a contract. If he declines we need to get rid and we need to get rid soon. I fear if we sell Xabi and Javier we will be taking two steps back, and as previously mentioned taking another year or two to restructure and rebuild the squad based around a different system. Interesting times.
  6. Likewise, but then you'd have to hope Alonso wants to stay. If we don't play our cards right we could end up in a situation where we lose a large chunk of money that we would have gotten for Alonso had we sold him this transfer window. That is if of course he doesn't sign an extention. As for the striker situation, I always hoped we'd still get Owen in plus Tevez or Villa, now they's unlikely to happen I'm not entirely sure what the situation will be.
  7. If we get an offer of 45 Million, as much as I don't want him to leave, that would be the minimum I'd accept, as that Valawhathisname said, he's unique and does something in football that many players can't do. So if Alonso has that player, who are we going to replace Alonso with? I think we should take the hit now, take the money rather than keep him for a season, hope he changes his mind, or we could end up on the wrong end of a good deal for Madrid.
  8. I've got a feeling this might just end up similar to the Ronaldo situation, he'll stay for a season, and leave the next, Alonso that is . If we keep him, we need to get an extension on his current deal to end all the rumour scaremongering.
  9. Not even Wigan fans like him, well according to the two I know, which roughly makes up about 10% of their fanbase

  12. Because they clearly had showed promise before the season just past, for one reason or another they didn't carry on that good form, be it because of confidence or something else. As I said and the OP said, I reckon they should go out on loan, just like we tried to do with Nemeth before he broke his jaw or something.
  13. Pacheco did look a player, and last season like all of those that should have made it, Nemeth etc. He didn't. I like him mind, I think it maybe too much to ask for him to step up just yet, I'd like to see him out on loan for at least a few months see how he does in the lower league. He's still only 18 isn't he?
  14. I usually defended Michael Owen to colleagues and friends alike, but this is something I cannot fathom. Utter bellend.
