Where do the improvements come for next season? We are on the verge of putting in our best points total in this format, so where do people see those 10+ extra points coming from?

The tabs aren't really working properly for the column headers, but you all know them anyway.

I think we're looking at 85-88 to win the league next season. Very slight improvement necessary to be right in the mix. What we must do is take points from Chelsea and Man U.

Definitely. Also our away form was a little erratic earlier in the season and this is where i think we need to improve. THis season will have gone a long way in frightening the opposition again.

Taking more points off our closest rivals is an obvious one.

A good start is absolutley essential to build on along with wins agaist the other top 4 sides. We have matched Chelsea for points over the last 29 games.

I think some key things would be to:

Defeat Chelsea and Man Utd on both occasions (or home win, away draw)

Have the ability to score more goals while defending strongly, less likely to throw easy games away to teams like Charlton or Benfica.

Build consistency so that we don't have any poor starts or mid season slip ups.

Be able to balance good performances in the league with cup competitions next year.

In reflection we have made a few mistakes this season but we've finished it off nicely. A little improvement next year could be enough to land us the title. I think the next season will be the big one, once Rafa gets in some more players the team will be very strong all round.

I believe that Man Utd will not finish as stongly next season, especially if they have an extended run in any cup. Looking at Chelsea, well I don't think they can possibly do better next season, it's really a question of will they ever slip up next season? Even if Chelsea slip up we have to be one step ahead and not slip up as well. Arsenal & Tottenham could be more threatening next season. It will be a great season.

Man Utd, Chelea, and Arsenal get out of trouble as they have the ability to score goals regularly - this is the glaring weakness

sure we need to beat our rivals home and away, while matching their record for the rest of the table

but the ability to fdo this omes down to goals IMHO

Crouch needs to double or triple his goal tally and we'll be on our way

I cant see Crouch as a goal scoring machine, but it is something we do need to improve on. IMO crouchy will is a provider who will generally weigh in with circa 15 a season. Giving that SG has had an unprecendented season in terms of goals we can only assume he will not score 20+ next season, or at least should not be relying on him to do so. As a result we need to find these goals and more from current or new squad members.

All the big clubs, including us, will go through a blip at some stage...it's a given, so that's why a good start is essential. Just thinking back to this season and the games at Boro and Brum when we should have got maximum points, just those two games would have seen us comfortably finishing second.

Just hope we get a decent run of fixtures in the first couple of months.

Strikers are part of our team. It would be fantastic if they scored more goals. But surely as a team game some of our midfielders and defenders could get us some goals too. Our strikers do come back and help us defend.

Don't get me wrong, I know our strikers have to get the brunt of our goals, but I'd still like to see players like Momo, Finnan, Didi, Carra get 3/4 each a season. Is it too much to ask?

true - if one of those 4 players score youre thinking 'now our strikers might nick one' and then we're laughing.

Sami has chipped in with valuable goals in the past (Wigan away and Juventus home as examples) if the others could even muster 2 or 3 a season each then that would be a huge plus.

a good start is essential and as others have said , we must take points off the top teams.

we need some more goals from midfield, other than Gerrard, and our big defenders have to be more potent from dead ball situations.

we also have to be able to give players like Gerrard, Alonso and Hyppia a rest to get the best out of them.

One thing we improved on this year but needs to improve further is winning more games in the first half, by that i mean being 3 up early and being able to rest players more. This will help all competitions we are competing in.

1. Get rid of the rubbish once and for all.

2. New quality striker who can get at least 15 in the prem.

3. Right winger(s).

4. Back up RB and LB.

5. Nullify Manu, Chelski by at least drawing both home and away. (any win would be a bonus).

6. Continue the consistency with clean sheets.

7. Kill teams off earlier than we have been, ie get that 3rd goal when needed.

8. Get off to a good start (imagine if we did that this season).

9. 86 points should be enough to win the title.

If we snatch 2nd place thats a couple of less games needed, and after a long season followed by a WC campaign the lads will have little rest (although I expect the non-internationals to get into training earlier like last year). Fingers crossed we get that 7th FA Cup and the place will be buzzing come the start of the season. I expect next season for us to really start playing the flowing football that Rafa wants and that we expect from this great club.

Smash Chelsea in the Charity/Community Shield and go on a 38 league game winning streak. Simple really. ;)

Gonzalez will improve us tremendously. It's a question of how long it will take him to settle in and get to grips with the physical nature of the English league. If he hits form and unleashes shots like his recent free kick the opposition are gonna be foooked - foul him within 30 yards of your goal and you may as well assume the worst and carry the ball back to centre circle, save the keeper the bother of retrieving it from the net! :D

An alternative to Crouch is also required, preferably one that can find the net when the opportunity presents itself.
