Ian Mc Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 (edited) Heard something today from a colleague in work about a possible irish investment proposal into LFC, eminating from Northern Ireland not Southern. Ulster Bank was mentioned, underwriting a significant chunk of this proposal to the tune of £200M. An Irish-Spanish-Asian takeover ..... is rite PS: The guy who told me in work would not mention any names, but said to me his son is working in the banking/investment arena and was involved in some capacity with the due dilligence that is currently ongoing at LFC. Just passing on what i was told Edited May 3, 2006 by Ian Mc

Benzo-13 Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Are gonna be selling their "real" Tayto, Tapas and Balti's?
Rushian Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 heard the architects have completed the drawings ready for formal tenders from contractors and it's full speed ahead working on the 3D drawings for interiors of the corporate suites etc so it seems someone is pressing the accelerator.

liverbird04 Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 "An Irish-Spanish-Asian takeover ..... is rite" sounds complicated but there has been rumours of a consortium getting involved ,never seemed highly likely it would be one single investor.
Maldini Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 I vaguely remember a rumour like this about this time last year, people were guessing at Joe O'Reilly at the time
Maldini Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 who is that ?Billionaire property developer, don't think there was anything in it, you never know though
Guest Makaveli Smith Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 It isn't £26M in used Northern Bank notes is it? As an Irish person myself I find that very offensive, or hilarious .... you choose, Im off to bed
fyds Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Ulster Bank is part of the Royal Bank of Scotland/NatWest group.Interestingly perhaps, it also owns Citizens Financial Group - the U.S. bank group based in Boston and Worcester, Massachusetts, who's risk management branch underwrote the capital investment programme for the Gillette Stadium, where a certain LFC Chief exec was seen sitting not too long ago as a guest of the underwritee...
boohog Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 Looks like 'cast-iron guarantees' required on the project required within three months to secure 'Objective One' funding. Seems like this stadium/investment issue is finally coming to head. Echo Anyone know who the council-approved contractor is ? Ulster bank have no private equity arm, so this will not be any king of investment approach from them. This will be LFC approaching them to borrow money. To be honest since we changed advisors from Hawkpoint to PwC, PwC will be running round like headless chickens speaking to everyone to justify their fees, so we'll probably hear a lot of this kind of story. The only downside is that they have a very inexperienced debt advisory dept. within their corporate finance arm (which LFC are retaining) so I'm not expecting any miracles in terms of borrowing new money.

You'd think they'd be already done, though, wouldn't you?
Rushian Posted May 4, 2006 Posted May 4, 2006 You'd think they'd be already done, though, wouldn't you? Not really. These are the final drawings after planning permission etc and you wouldn't choose the interiors of the corporate facilities etc at concept stage as fashions change so much.
