As we have nothing more to play for in the league, why not keep our most important players away from bookings and injuries by not playing them? I believe a couple of squad players would be more than happy to get a start or two at the very end of the season. Dudek, Agger, etc. Players who haven't been playing an awful lot of games this season. I'd love to see Hammill or Anderson get 10-20 minutes or so at the end of one of the last games.

Don't we still have a chance at 2nd place?

I'm all in for giving them a chance, but not till all hope is lost on getting 2nd place..

I would be over the moon if Anderson would play at least once, and I think giving Hamill, Hobbs/Antwi, and maybe Barragan a chance on the bench if not starting, but i don't think we should just use our entire youth team in the same game.. would be utter pointless and simply disrespecting the opponent, if we don't have any chance at 2nd i think we should, and I think Rafa will give a few youngsters a chance, and in will be pretty shocked if Agger doesn't play againt till the end of the season, and Warnock as well, he might be leaving but his last 2 performances have been pretty good and i think he deserves another shot..

Still, as long as Djimi Traore doesn't play again for Liverpool FC I'm a happy man..

If we finish second and Arsenal don't win the CL then we automatically qualify for the group stages next year. That's something to play for. If Chelsea beat Utd next week then we will only be 3pts behind. Till it's mathmatically gone you should put out your strongest side. Also, why put out a weakened team against the side that you will face in the Cup final. Batter them and get a phychological edge for the final. No one could despute Chelsea have that edge over us after that frantic defending in the second half. A couple more performances of that ilk thought and the pendulum will swing.

Rest Kewell and Sami (if Agger is fit), rotate the strikers (play Fowler), maybe Kromkamp for Finnan but we need to keep the core of the side playing so we don't lose form going into the final.

Just something regarding Hamill, the first team watched the second leg from their hotel on Friday, and they were all fuming with him. Apparently Rafa was absolutely seething, he may have f***ed himself up before he even got going at LFC.

but doing that could also lead to even more complacency that it would be a stroll.. it is a difficult one.

I think that Fowler should/will play all 3 games just so, if he hasn't made his decision, Benitez can do so and also it would mean a rest for whoever plays in the final

What happened?

He hadn't played particularily well and Heighway was quite right to sub him, he walked off the field shaking his head, grabbed his jumper while it was explained to him and stormed off down the tunnel.

To his credit sortof, he reappeared a few minutes later and was sat in the dugout speaking to (I think) John Owens.

I think that'd be incredibly harsh of Rafa,he's only a young lad. It was a mistake, and incredibly petulant, but what is he,18?

I'd go for a more or less complete re-shuffle...

Dudek

Kromkamp, Carragher, Agger, Traore

Cisse, Hamann, Alonso, Warnock

Fowler, Morientes

Subs: Reina, Sissoko, Anderson, Garcia, Crouch

The goal difference is to great, and United on there form will not drop more then 3 points in the last 3 games.

2nd is gone, blood the young i say.

Never say never, they lose at the Bridge and they only have 2nd to lose and nothing to play for. They win/draw at the Bridge and we can rest some players.

The FA Cup is 3 weeks away, why rest players now ? I expect to see the usual squad rotation this Wednesday. With Kewell injured Rafa has to shuffle the pack anyway so we will see a few changes.

I think Dudek will get at least 1 game before the end of the season.

I hope so - and I would like it to be against Villa so he can get a decent Kop send-off
