Rafa was magic again, the fella;s top class.

But he did make one definite mistake - taking Crouch off with 20 minutes or so to go. When we were under pressure we needed someone who could hold the ball up in the opposition half, and no way is Cisse that kind of player.

Cisse did bugger all, considering that the situation required everyone to pull their weight. Just strolled around, waiting for somebody to give him the ball on a plate, as usual.

... Cissé's job was to provide threat with pace and make them pull more people back on the off-chance he got a run at them - did it well twice and got in a superb cross, after that it didn't work because in part, we sat too deep and didn't release the ball to him diagonally down the flanks (making it easy for them to step up and get him offside) and because he didn't get involved enough himself thereafter.

:applause: Finally somebody gets it. If we had had Andrei fecking Shevchenko up there alone it wouldn't have made any difference because he wouldn't have gotten any passes.

no, it wasnt' a mistake. It was a anticipating what was going to happen in the game. So the reason for the sub was that he wanted an outlet, a player who could use his pace as Chelsea pressed more and more for the goals they where desperate for, and so leaving more and more space for that pacy player to work in.

Rafa trusted him yesterday to do that job for 15 - 20 mins, but he didn't do it. Doubt he'll be trusting him again any time soon.

I doubt Crouch could have held his own pants up at that stage, never mind the ball - he was knackered.

We did sit too deep and didn't make the best use of Cisse, but thought he could have closed down their players more often, but he doesn't appear to be able to multi task. Thought Nando did quite well when he came on as he helped steady the ship.

didn't make the best use of cisse?

the hot dog stands were fully manned.

The reason we sat deep is because they were throwing men forward without care and we needed to keep it tight. We still managed to counter pretty effectively but there were actually valid reasons for us sitting deep - Robben and Drogba's pace for one.

It's called defending.

Now THAT's comedy.....I'll be sniggering about that for days, and trying to explain it without any joy to the Canucks ;)
