the Arsenal fans are spoken about briefly here but for fox sake - it's a European Cup Semi fkin Final for crying out loud!.. that was a pathetic effort.. pathetic..

people on here often make mention to "the most knowledgable fans in the World" tag - and admittedly there are some divvy's amongst us - but in the main i believe we are.. i also believe, no I KNOW, we are the best in the World at getting behind our team particularly when the chips are down.. just as we made Chelsea's double winning parade look a sham last season the Arsenal fans showing last night was s**** and every one of us should be proud with the effort put in to our singing, the songs we make up, the banners, the cheering, the parades, the history and, yes, our knowledge of the game we love..

we are the fkin best and don't let anyone even attempt to tell you any different.. the proof is there for all to see..

Come on how funny was the squirell song especially after the 5th time they sang it :D

I think we are big game fans. Some of the atmospheres at our home league games have been terrible. However, no set of fans in Europe will ever be able to compare with Chelsea, Juve, and Olymp last year. And our half time showing in Istanbul has left the football world in awe. I think however that the home support in the likes of Argentina is frightening

Our away support is the best around though. Although all away fans are invairably louder then the home fans as there's more of a seige mentality when at another teams stadium, the constant chanting and support for our own team, as opposed to the "Stand up if you hate (insert name here) rubbish that other teams chant is far superior. When you listen to the Chelsea fans chanting "Chelsea, Chelsea" over and over again, it makes me cringe.

the league atmosphere has been pretty apalling this year. but, would it still have been the same if we were going for a title? is suspect not.

perhpas 1st is 1st and 3rd is nowhere is accepted by the fans.

i fully expect next season anfield to be rocking during the league games, as no doubt we will be going for the title.

What,"there's only one squirrel"? Fantastic, great wit shown there. Given that all their songs revolve around "There's only one (insert name here),it's hardly that surprising.

Probably true, unfortunately seems to be the case with everyone. But that said, I fail to believe that Anfield was always rocking during the 60s,70s and 80s for every single game. Certainly from the brief amount of highlights I've seen of archive football for most league games it seems like certain pockets of fans singing and shouting but generally quiet. I dunno.

What I do know, however, is that when we turn it on we really do turn it on like no one set of supporters in the country. Seeing the kop awash with flags and banners, the whole of Anfield a sea of red and white - it's great. It makes you proud and I dont care what people say, it has an effect on players - ours and the opposition's. Arsenal played possibly their biggest game last night and apart from the mosaic at the start it seemed like nothing special.

I agree that it is the same everywhere, and as I said in my earlier post when referring to last years CL games, there is no-one to touch us when the fans are on form.

I am really looking forward to Saturday because with the 5:15 kickoff I think we will blow the Chelsea fans away and show Old Trafford what singing is about.

No one can claim to be "the best fans in the world", what makes you that?

I agree that for a European Cup Semi the athmostphere wasn't like I'd expect, I know they'd s*** it up here, whether it be Goodison or Anfield.

Maybe it's a North/South thing, your semi at Chelsea last year was a disgrace for athmostphere, so poor I fell asleep.

Arsenal were much better than that last night but I think it's a definite North/South thing, southerners in general aren't known for there great athmostpheres.

Anyway, I'd still like to see Arsenal sneak through, although if Villareal went onto win it I'd be delighted too.

I think there's something in the North/South thing,I think it's a case of money. London fans,in particular the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal, are more wealthy than fans in Liverpool/Newcastle/etc. The footie means more to them than the majority of fans down South.

i watch a lot of football and i've never seen a set of fans create an atmosphere as we do on occasions.. it's not every game - we all know that - but when the stakes are high (big games if you like) or when our backs are against the wall then i reckon we're the best - no question.. we bring a carnival of colour, our songs are fkin great, we're louder, our banter is funnier, our banners make headlines and our reputation is renowned all over the World.. i could be wrong but it's up to people to tell me stories of how other fans create similar and wipe the floor with ours - i reckon we're fkin ace and we won't be beaten..

the atmosphere AT Chelsea was s*** from their part - our lads showed how we're louder and prouder then too.. don't know about the North/South thing - a lot of our supporters are from far that neck of the woods but still participate in everything we do..

I think it's worth noting that watching a game down south costs a fricking fortune. Those that can afford to go are probably the least likely to sing anyway.

Spurs and Chelsea are both ridiculously expensive.

I guess the further north you go the more working class the main ST holders become too. There's definitely a difference whichever way you look at it. Quite strong cultural differences too.

"Everyone thinks their fans are the best but ours prove it time and time again," Carragher said. "In big games they always out-sing our opponents. If we could do half as well as them we'd win the Premiership every year."
