Who will captain Newcastle next season ?

Roader has said he expects Scott Parker to captain them next season. Does that indicate that he's planning on Owen not being there next season or am I imagining things ?

 

I'd have thought Owen, experienced international, club record signing, consumate media savvy professional would be automatic 1st choice to be club captain.

So why would he say it then ? While I can't imagine Owen captaining Liverpool unless as 5th choice backup, I can see him being the automatic choice for Newcastle skipper. Hasn't he worn the armband for England ?

Nothing more in it than Parker is the obvious choice - there really isn't any competition from the players currently there.

I don't think strikers as captain work that well. Parker is their leader on the field anyway, he's the perfect choice for them.

Personally I agree with you but i'm just thinking of Newcastle and their approach to things.
