The Rafa signing that has surprised you the most!

For me it's Sissoko. Whe I heard he was signing I thought

"Errr ok, another midfielder, seems a bit odd. Do we need another one?

That's alot of money to pay for a Biscan/Diao replacement.

Why not just keep one of them and chase the players we need!"

 

Considering we had little to spend and

had a host of midfield talent I couldn't understand why we

picked him up at all. I thought we should be saving our money

for the critical positions that needed urgent attention. I really thought

this was a mistake considering we needed to really fatten out the squad.

 

10 minutes into his first start I thought he was/is the next Viera.

 

 

As it stands I think he's become a vital player for us in a very short time.

He offers almost what Hamann offers yet with more aggression and speed. He covers

more ground than any player I can remember and when on song his passing is excellent.

(I know some reckon his passing was poor today but for the most part I don't agree. He was in the thick of it

when Gerrard and Alonso had unusually quiet games and was breaking up everything)

 

I didn't think that many players had a better engine than Gerrard but this guy

is unnatural.

 

Right now I really think most teams s*** themselves just before kick off seeing Gladitorial figure of Sissoko,

the intelligence of Alonso and our captain all in midfield.

errrrm. Probably Crouchy! I've come to realise exactly why Rafa wanted him. And how improved we've become with him in our team.

 

AS for Momo, he was a luxury signing. Rafa admitted as much. He'd lined him up for if SteG left. But when Stevie G stayed, called the deal off. I guess thinking he was going to stay at Valencia. But when it became clear he was headed over to the prem anyway, he snapped him up! Shows how much he thought of him - that he couldn't bare to have him at Everton! So I wasn't really thinking 'why on earth has he signed him'. Just thought, well - he's saving him, good man

 

I'd seen him play for VCF a few times, and thought him a good player, but he has surprised me how easily and well he's settled.

 

I thought rafa had found out he was available from reading it in the paper?

Definately Crouch. I never thought he would play for us, ever. I was also quite surprised that we were able to lure Garcia away from Barca. I thought he was a cracking player and was made up when we signed him.
