Earl Hafler Posted January 6, 2006 Posted January 6, 2006 There are some pics available on the net showing the Kop, without any people, post Hillsborough. I've used them before. Just play around with Google.

Nebraska Red Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Mcgrath scored for them early on... Ramboi scored two....a pen (Moran hand ball) and then he t****** Whiteside in a tackle and battered one on from 20 yards...breaking Gary Bailey's finger 1142596 he ran through half of their team before scoring. i recall the stewards letting people sit on the steps in the Kemlyn Road as there were thousands over the maximum attendance figure that night. one of his best goals, yes. for me another good one was the penalty at Watford in the cup. no bugger wanted to take it, he strode up and put it away. a long journey back to Liverpool through the night was made worthwhile.
Earl Hafler Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 Was that bottom pic taken when Didi was practising his free-kicks ?

fitzy Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 This picture to me shows how much football has changed, here is arguably the most famous terrace in football from the outside and it has no frills, just a football stand, now like it or not when you stand in the same spot it's like you're at some kind of fairground.
Paisley Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 God that photo brings back memories of going through the turnstiles on my first visit to Anfield as an awestruck kid. Great thread this.

I'm impressed, though I have got a terrible memory of individual games. Those pictures of the standing Kop have brought back many memories. Great thread.
SkippyjonJones Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 fantastic stuff. - I used to lovegetting there early and going right to the top of the kop just so it was all laid out in front of me - was always awesome. then watching the crowd fill it over the space of 2 hours. and those wooded seats at the kop end of the main stand - always looking up there to see what players were there - mainly to try and work out who was playing!

Going to the Cafe at the bottom right of the Kop (as you were stood on it) and looking up at the terrace as it started to fill up
SkippyjonJones Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 and then watching it empty cos you were right in the middle and last to get out! the away fans arrivign and singing and nobody giving a f*** until nearly KO when the volume switched from the voices of 20,000 on the kop to the singing getting going. and looking at the kemlyn and wondering what the f*** went on there -there was never any light up there.

Nebraska Red Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 do you remember them piping the home end singing through the tannoy that night?1142608 it's enough for me to remember I was there. i spent hours on LFChistory last night just reigniting memories of some of the great games and some of the lousy games I went to. as a "kid" I used to be at the ground as the gates opened and was never ever bored whilst waiting for the match to start. then, when I had a season ticket, I was always trying not to get there too early. the European games seem to be some of my best memories, even the odd defeat. now I sound like some 80 year old codger hankering for the good old days.
allez les rouges Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 whatever happened to the mast from the Great Eastern? there a are a few flag poles there now, is it still there? if so, anyone know which one it is?
pipnasty Posted January 7, 2006 Posted January 7, 2006 The one that stands out for me was when we played the mancs in the then milk cup l think it was, midweek game. I think they took the lead but the mighty reds came back to win 2-1 with Rambo scoring a screamer. Me and my brother were right in the middle that night and it was absolutley crazy in there, dont think my feet were on the floor much that night. There were a few people passed down to the front that night.1142595 Bloody hell - what a game that was!! Am I right in thinking that game was Anfield's last unofficial 50,000 attendance?
