The Ambient Thread

Recommended Posts

I have a number of audio files that help me relax i.e. rainfall, ocean waves, thunderstorms etc. They range from 1 to 2 hours long. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll figure out a way to get them online.

And on Spotify there is Snoozecast

Its a bunch of ‘readings’ by different people or extracts from books. I put it on, with in ear headphones so I can adjust sleeping position, set to say 2/10 volume, and am asleep within 2 mins - I’m not a good sleeper btw

i wake up a few times in the night, by which time its moved on a few stories and when I do wake, I have no idea what they’re talking about, but then I’m back asleep again within a minute, none the wiser

it’s been remarkably effective for me

apart from that I use Brian ENO and Harold Budd - The Pearl,  on a loop

but I find Snoozecast is even better for getting to sleep

And of course, we don’t do it anymore but I remember when we used to get the train to go to different cities eg Liverpool to London - then I’d listen to Council Estate Electronics. Still ambient, but more for an industrial context

I was wondering what of Namlook's stuff to post in here.

I spent way too much of my money as a student on Fax label imports in Selectadisc

And me, spent many Saturday and Sunday mornings hiding behind the curtains listening to Namlook and others 😀

Phil Mison has done a playlist for everyone. He used to play Cafe Del Mar sunsets in the early 90s. Balearic legend.

Nice one Dan, listening now.
