Anyone remember Top Trumps

After playing new top trumps with my kids , my father in law and I had a wee trip down memory lane about our favourites from the past. I loved the one for Tanks whereas he loved the trains one. Anyhow on looking through EBay I saw some and managed to pick up a pack of 1978 World Cup for a fiver. That was the first world up I remember , theme tune, opening credits,Scotish song, Mario Kempas.

Anyone else remember these or indeed still have them

I used to love the Horror ones. The Thing was the one everyone wanted with a Fear Factor of 100, Vampire Bat was the one to avoid with a FF of only 49. Other favourites were Dinosaurs & Cars

Yeah! I had both sets of the horror ones!!

I never understood why Godzilla had a suit jacket and cravat on!

Was it The Thing or was it Death? Death was near unbeatable.

They did run out of ideas with set two. Creature from.............lol

Remember playing "Horror Cards" as we used to call it on our school bus every day.

I actually have both sets, and just dug them out - The Thing didn't have a fear factor of 100, and Death was in the second set (with a horror rating of 100) 4_17_8[1].gif

EDIT: linky winky

Yeah the sets are linked above too. Great memories. There was this boy in my class who was excellent at drawing all these creatures, superheroes etc. and we had actually made our own in-house pack of cards to go with the two sets.

Wasn't death rated 100 for everthing except strength, for which it was rated 99.

You needed thor or something to beat death on strength.

Losing the death card was like when your bird is really fit, then she has a slight vulnerability around strength that gets seized on by Thor.

Wow, just checked - that reckons Thor was better than death.

I think they must have released updated numbers or something

How is Thor better at killing that death. Death is really good at killing. It's its primary function

Still got both sets in my mum and dad's loft. I never understood what the hell Thor was doing in a horror set. Or why the devil priest looked like, well, death. Or what a zetan warlord was.

I'm not having it that Thor has a bigger fear factor than Death. Which one of them, if walking into your office/ house/ wherever you are now, has you s***ting it the most.

Aye. For a start, Thor has a hammer. You might easily mistake him for a man that's come to fix the leak in trap 2.

Death'll have a scythe. At best, you're mistaking him for somebody who wants to run around slaughtering people. Or an off duty time travelling agricultural worker.

Good question, we hold our breath for an official explanation. Someone should write in to mr Trumps.

You're stupid.

It's Mr Trump, Mr Donald Trump. That's where he made all his money.

What's "horror rating" anyway?

How much does something fill you with horror? Which is surely subjective. I'd greet death as a long overdue and welcome visitor personally. Whereas Thor would just bemuse me.
