Next person to suggest we share stadiums with the BS

Getting sick of this s*** that keeps rearing its ugly head. Now Broughton is coming out the woodwork to suggest we become housemates with the bitters across Stanley Park. It's insulting for both ourselves and the BS that we're patronisingly being told it's best for both clubs to share since we're clearly not important enough to warrant our own individual stadiums. Apart from AC and Inter, what big club shares its home with its local rival? And AC and Inter aren't even bitter rivals, they regularly exchange players and even managers. So sharing stadiums isn't much of a deal for the supporters of those clubs. We on the other hand, cannot stand the sight of the s**** and vice versa. People that should know better are deliberately ignoring over 100 years of history, and our very formation as a club due to the importance of the stadium issue, which is unacceptable.

We should never share a home with any club, least of all the f***ing bitter blues.

he's coming at it from a financial perspective, the cost of building 2 new stadia being more than building one/ its fine if we all get along, less so if we dont. If West Ham and some one like say Newcastle were to share a stadium I'm sure it would make financial sense and there is no rivalry, or Wigan and Blackburn, but us and Everton - too much deep seated hatred and mistrust and while it would make financial sense, neither board could sell it to either set of fans so its not going to happen.

But what gets on my t*** is that only ever us and Everton that the media deem suitable for groundshare. Spurs and West Ham are both trying to get the Olympic Stadium and I've yet to see anyone suggesting groundshare as the logical course of action

Yep. Each and every London club deserves their own stadium, but that Northern city Liverpool isn't big/important enough to support two stadiums.

I meant in terms of the rivalry between the two of them not there f***ing location on a map

mmm yeah, but it's massively relevant to the argument isn't it?

clubs that are geographically close enough to each other to share a stadium are going to be rivals.

not there f***ing location on a map

I love this line by the way. "who's arsed about f***ing maps FFS? there's more to life than WHERE STUFF IS you know."

If I were to try and be objective, I reckon others think it is right because,

- both want a new stadium

- both need a new stadium

- the current grounds are yards rather than miles apart

- planning permission has been granted on the park that separates the two grounds, so location for new stadium is obvious

- we are still the only two clubs that can have fans in the wrong ends on derby days.

There is still an impression outside Liverpool that both sets of fans are reasonably content sitting next to each other in the ground, so why not share.

For me, despite all the above, and despite the financial benefits, you lose your identify as soon as you do this. I would rather we stayed put.

I think we'll get pushed towards it. First Kenny and now Broughton making noises. I think it will make perfect sense to the number crunchers but there's too much emotional baggage, imo.

About ten years ago a mate of mine was at a series of discussions between the clubs about a groundshare. But Everton had no money and wanted us to pay for the whole stadium, so that they would in essence be our tenants. But they didn't want anyone - in particular their supporters - to know about this. We of course said no.

I can't see that much has changed - it's not like the bluenoses have come into a load of cash, is it?

you being sarcy or serious?

it's a mental idea but it might just work.

I see it's been suggested before so I'm not the genius I thought for a moment I might be.

I can't see how building two stadiums on one piece of land will make any financial sense, even if they're joined at the hip. Surely the whole point of shared stadia is to minimise costs?

think of it as one great big stadium with two pitches.

it's one plot of land, one design, one consultation process, one infrastructure, shared car park and corporate facilities, and economies of scale on all work and materials.

No, same owners, same small time thinking.

for a start having 'conjoined' stadiums: well that's gotta be worth a goal start. I would like to see the looks on the faces of Keys and Gray as that word is forced in to their vocabulary

and in all seriousness, although the idea has been laughed out, my instinct tells me that it is very much worth exploring

loads of cost savings to be had and an iconic mega structure to be built that satisfies the financial imperatives of both clubs, while technically maintaining a degree of separation
