Our best starting 11

If everyone was fit (including Fabio & Agger) what would our best starting 11 actually be?

 

It's quite gutting thinking about Aquilani as I'd personally have him right in the team, I think mine would be:

Feel quite cheap leaving Drik out but that front 6 are all ball players with an excellent 1st touch, the same can be said if the defence with perhaps the exception of Srktel who is still far better on the ball than Carra or The Greek.

 

The one problem with that is we are playing a financial masterstroke in preserving Alberto's value this season which really does mess things up I reckon and I'm certainly not convince about Cole behing Torres, so would poss go with:

I'm not sure at the moment. I'd still go Carra centre half along with Agger, but it will be interesting to see how we do without him

I'm really suprised Jova hasn't been given more of a go as well. Still feel he could be player for us

I think he could do a lot of Torres donkey work for him. I believe Hodgson is trying to do this with Ngog but i would rather have Jova if it is a traditional 4-4-2.

Not sure about the defence at the moment. Maybe ask Kelly to play as a 2001 Carra at left back, get Johnson to TRY and play anywhere near the level Babbel did in an attacking sense.

I could live with that. Looks a bit flimsy against the better teams and feel Hodgson would find that team too adventurous for his own tastes.

..and it's not a bad eleven, but the problem we've got is about 3 of that 11 are very injury prone, and the there really aren't any players outside that 11 who are 'bashing the door down' in terms of being close to edging out any of those first choice players.

 

It's funny, but when you look how we've coped in the Europa with our second string you realise we have depth in our squad, but its the sort of depth teams who want to finish 5th-8th would kill for. It's nowhere near top 4 level depth.
