Spending Cuts

Mr Cameron and his mates seem to be coing in for a bit of flak at the moment for talking so openly about cuts.

 

I think we all know they are coming and need to be made somewhere (probably likely have some views as to where). One odd thing, though

 

Michael Portillo has said, in the past, that talk of cuts is moot. Even at her worst, all Thatcher managed was to stop the growth in Government spending. Never to actually REDUCE expenditure. If that's true, it's incredible that in all that "pain and upheval" created by her, all that was managed was to stop growth. And Cameron - who I guess knows Portillo - seems to think they can cut it. As does Brown, to be fair...
