Every home game for the rest of the season

The lads on RAWK were just talking about having a flag day. Why not make every home game for the rest of the season a flag day? Really get behind the lads and prove why we have the reputation we do as fans. Get on it SOS.

Would tally with every game being the biggest of the season and help getting everyone's nerves off the finishing line.

Think it's a great idea. We could look back win, lose or, er lose that we as fans did our best to help the lads. I'll do it.

any serious opinions about this?

I'm completely undecided apart from the following thoughts:

1 flag days are special, should we save them for special occasions?

2 we have the best chance in 19 yrs, should we not go for it, I mean proper go for it now?

3 if we try for 2, will it work without all kinds of other stuff getting sorted, eg 'remember to cheer boys' and 'remember not to boo, boys'

We certainly need to get our act together

it won't happen though. can't remember a more depressing season atmosphere wise.

to paraphrase tom finney or someone, At times it's been as if we've got a man less than the opposition, such is the negative influence of this famous crowd.

I'm not sure having a flag day every home game is the way forward as it could come across as bit manufactured.

There definately needs to be a shift in the mind set of the fans into accepting the games coming up are big games and the team needs the type of support they get during European games. Rather than the tense nervous support which seems to have crept in (caveat on that being only seen most of this on TV, apart from early games), really I think it is down to the season tickets and other regular match goers to lead the way.

How you actually ensure that happens is difficult, maybe arrange a flag day for the Man City game, to give the support a bit of a boost, the atmosphere should be there for the Everton and Chelsea games anyway. Plus hopefully by the Man city game I will be able to start going to games again.

That's the daftest thing I've read in relation to our crowd. Are you yearning for a past that never existed?

I wasnt' around, but someone on there says they did it towards the end of the '77 season. Anyone remember that?

I do and I can tell you with absolute certainty that it never happened. In fact, I didn't know what a "flag day" was until Gerard Houlier was our manager and I've been going to Anfield since 1965. I can also remember years and years and years where there couldn't have been a "proud" flag at Anfield as poles were not allowed inside. Not the nationality before any smart asses come out with owt, neither.
