If reports suggesting we don't have enough cash to go for both Barry and Keane (And assuming both are possibilities of being sold by their clubs)

Which of the two would you prefer - or do you think we should just ignore the whole thing?

Would like both. (voted for Keane, as we already have Alonso)

Think Barry is an upgrade over Alonso in the Premiership, which is the priority.

Think Keane is another match winner.

Add a left winger and we'll challenge.

Neither at the moment. Not before we strengthen where we really need to strengthen anyway, imo obviously. Still, they are quality players. So......

Barry is not an upgrade on Alonso in any form of football.

I think he is in the Premiership.

He's stronger, better defensively, gets more goals, more assists and is more versitile.

Alonso is a better passer and more pleasing on the eye. But for me Barry is more effective.

The answer is obviously going to be Barry though. Our centre midfield has always been strong with Alonso and before Alonso.

We'd all like to see another match winner to help Gerrard and Torres win games.

This thread just seems to be another dig at Barry. I think he'll also be a good signing.

I'm sure this has been done to death, but no one will ever convince me that Barry is a better player than Alonso, stronger? I couldn't tell you, probaly only people that have played against them could, better defensivley? I disagree, Xabi reads the game so well and makes ALOT of interceptions, you don't always have to win the ball back with a thunderous tackle, more goals and assists I would put down to taking penalties, free kicks and corners...

Versitile I'll give you, but I would rather have a master in every position than a jack of all trades.

Having said all that, it looks very likely that I will be cheering on Barry next season, I can live with that. It still wont stop me thinking that given the choice personally I would have Xabi every time (and that can mean whatever you pervs think!!)

I can't see how Alonos is better than BArry defensively. He's not better in the air, not as strong on the ball or in the tackle, positionally they are both sound.

But fair enough if you disagree.

Keane is possibly worth what we're paying. Barry is not.

I do however have a suspicion we'll end up caving in and get Barry.

KEANE is a quality proved premiership player able to play in the hole. i think he and torres would anexcellent partenership which will lead to loads of goals.

Barry is a versatile player who will also be a quality addition, but knowing we hve masch and alonso i would prefer if we spend the money on a quality left wing.

dont think barry is a priority buy at the moment.

Because we've just sold Crouch, the obvious answer is Keane.

Had we kept Crouch, sold Alonso and been a central midfielder short - the answer would have been Barry.

So, in your opinion, we don't need to strengthen our striking options( ) or our midfield, which is a given (so we don't need Barry).

Care to elaborate where we do need to strengthen, instead of offering a glib postulation?
