In any other country, it would be a no-brainer and Gerrard would be automatic choice, he is our only consistently outstanding player and has proven his credentials as a captain at the top level.

The thing that i find strange is that he resigned from being a captain after the world cup and made a big fuss about it, why would he be given the armband again
