Torres 'best night of my career'

Fernando Torres has described the euphoric Champions League victory over Arsenal as "the biggest night of his career" so far.

El Nino took his tally to 29 goals for the season with another memorable strike at the Kop end and he said it was a fantastic occasion to be involved in.

"It was the biggest night of my career and I came to Liverpool for nights like this," said Torres. "It is unbelievable - the high tempo of both teams, the fans, everything.

"It was special for all of us because of the work that we put in. To score four goals against a very good side is a good achievement for us and we are all very proud.

"It was a great game for Liverpool and for Arsenal but the most important thing for us is that we are now in the semi-finals."

Torres also revealed that he thought the match was over when Emmanuel Adebayor made it 2-2 on the night.

"Yes, I thought it was finished," he said. "There were only a few minutes left but with the magic of Anfield the players were able to score two more goals.

"Liverpool is special. It is a special team, with special fans and a special city and today I am very happy to live in this city and to play for this club."

Next up for the Reds in Europe is Chelsea in what will be the third semi-final in four years between the two sides. It is also the team that El Nino scored his first goal for the Reds against back in August.

"We know that Chelsea are also a very good team but we will see if we can make it to the final," added Torres.

"The English teams are the strongest at the moment so we know it will be difficult.

"We now have two games against Chelsea and our target is to finish in the top four in the Premiership and to win the Champions League."

"today"? Doesn't sound very long-term.

A clear come and get me plea if ever I heard one.

FFS! Language barrier, misquote, whatever, the guy loves the club, the fans and the city and you pick out one word out of all that and put a negative spin on it!

As Alan Hansen would say..."UNBELIEVABLE!"
