Before people go off on one, can I just say any analysis of today's game that does not take into account the fact we had ten men is pointless

 

some people are saying how could same players beat inter milan so comfortably and don't mention their ten men

 

game can be summarised as

 

mistake by reina for goal

got in his head so he was poor on crosses

 

masch sent off

 

we do okay but never threaten

reina flaps at cross

 

heads drop and they pick us off once more

We only played with 8 men before Mascherano was sent off, Carra and Skrtel have just put in the most abysmal performance I have ever seen from a CB pairing and Kuyt looked like he played for the mancs, it was a real poor decision from Rafa to leave out our best defender for such a game.

So feckin annoying that about their goal, not only did Reina mistime it, he obviously called for it. Really lost the plot today for a while Reina. Odd the way playing Utd, in particular, seems to get into our keepers heads

Obviously, playing Inter with 10 men twice made a difference in the tie, but the key distinction is that even before Inter were down to 10, we had a clean pair of pants and were holding our own. I swear only Masch had a clean pair of pants after about 7 minutes today. Unacceptable.

OK maybe Skrtel got a shout but what's Alonso's (think it was Xabi?) excuse for Ronaldo's goal? Pathetic attempt at getting the ball and my biggest disappointment of the day.

Would attribute blame for the second goal more more to Reina. Decided to come then mistimed the jump for the second time in the game.

sami brings a calming influence to our defence as well as being a great reader of the game. When Carra plays with any other CB he looks pannicked and certainly doesn't help his partner. I think if Skrtel and Agger get a chance to be a partnership they could very much be like Ferdinand and Vidic. One very poised and the other aggressive. Carra I am afraid may have to hone his FB skills if he is to regain his place next season.
