Profiteroles at the ready

A BISCUIT factory worker threw a bowl of profiteroles at his wife as she lay in bed.

Darren Owen, 38, of Seattle Avenue, Bispham, admitted assaulting his 55-year-old wife.

He was fined £150 with £60 costs and ordered to pay the £15 victims' surcharge by Blackpool magistrates.

Pauline Newrick, prosecuting, said there had been an argument between the couple and Mrs Owen had not been hurt

David Charnley, defending, said the couple's relationship was not going to continue.

Gilps won't like him bringing up her past as a working girl...

A DISCUSSION about getting engaged ended with a man battering his girlfriend in the street.

Frederick Abraham was aghast at what he had done as he loved the girl, Blackpool magistrates were told.

Abraham, 22, of Buckden Close, Anchorsholme, pleaded guilty to assault.

He was bailed to April 15 for pre-sentence reports.

Pauline Newrick, prosecuting, said the couple were arguing when the defendant pushed his girlfriend against a wall and she slapped him, on Sunday.

Abraham pursued her, punched her in the back, pushed her onto the floor and spat at her.

Gerry Coyle, defending, said: "They had been together for five months and were discussing getting engaged.

"He confessed that he was jealous of a former boyfriend by whom she had a son. It was then mentioned that she had been a working girl and this upset him."
