mick Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 IMO Mike Riley bottled it in relation to that Cole challenge. Allowed himself to be intimidated. Absolute disgrace for pro (?) refs. You couldn't also see fat FRank try to get Keane sent off after he was booked.
Guest The_Drunken_Clam Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 http://101greatgoals.magnify.net/item/BD5ZQHFRG19R9JMW Rubbish decision, no doubt about that.Cole showing him his back, shouting to him etc as well.
psl Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Think Riley just thought he got the ball. Its understandable without a replay. Looked like he was saying that to Poyet when he walked down the tunnel at half time.
Swipe Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 (edited) Completely bottled it. Was made to look like a fool in front of millions, by a player who'd just made a challange that should have been punished by a red card. Cole's behaviour was deplorable. Surely this is a case in point where players that have got away with things like that should be retrospectively punished further. But then again, it was "lazy defending" according to Jamie Redknapp. f*** me Edited March 19, 2008 by Swipe

Looked like he was saying that to Poyet when he walked down the tunnel at half time.cole's reaction afterward and his disrespect to ref (although it must be difficult to respect that c*** of a ref) should have been enough for a red card never mind the tackle that was worse than taylor and what is this "in this current climate" rubbish, that tackle would have ben a certain red card even 20 years ago!! its got nothing to do with what happened to eduardo
mick Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 Didn't tune in long enough to listen to Jamie after the Spurs game. I was still mulling over his comment that Ronaldo is to Football like Tiger Woods is to golf. Woods has done it on the big stage and won major after major while Ronaldo has............eh....

It was incredible that he got away with that, let alone being compounded by the contempt he showed by showing his back so arrogantly. Utter utter c***. And Ashley Cole!
Gooner Spy Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Cole really is a reprehensible human being. As an Arsenal Fan, words really cant describe the contempt I feel for him. All thats wrong with the English footballer today. And they wonder why we aint winning world cups????

It's difficult to have any modicum of respect for any of Chelsea's English contingent [ although Joe Cole is probably a bit behind the other 3 c**** in the race to the bottom ]. Fat Frank is a reptile.
Guest Snorky Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Awful challenge, and to think Aliadaire (whatever spelling) gets a three match ban for tickling Mascherano's cheek.

Fat Frank is a reptile. I have a begrudging respect for John Terry - I would have him in my team any day of the week. Lampard is indeed a reptile!
mick Posted March 19, 2008 Author Posted March 19, 2008 I agree Cole is a complete pr!ck but any chance he turned his back like that to influence Riley into giving him a booking instead of a red - following on from the surrounding of the referee. Riley unless he didn't see the tackle properly must have thought it was a red when his foot was that high. If he didn't see the tackle than why would he book him atall? Bottled it and change his mind........
MFletcher Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 He should have given him a second booking for dissent when he refused to turn around. That would really have pissed the spiteful little c*** off.

I can't comprehens being at a match, and watching the decision making process between the referee and his assistants. Even simplicities such as throw ins, which should be a linesmans call, 90% of the time, the ball goes out, the referee decides, then the linesman lamely sticks up his flag in accordance with the ref's decison. drives me f***ing crazy.

What annoys me is the amount of simple decisions that they get wrong. The ineptitude of some of them is staggering.
Gooner Spy Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 I think, with the pace of the game, theres a lot that you can 'let them away with', but right enough, there are some that are simply inexcusable. A few years ago, when u were at a match, there used to be at least a 50 50 chance of a decent ref. Now, when your at a match, who do you hope for? Every time its the same, i get the programme, look who the ref is, and s*** myself, because there isnt one who I trust to officiate a big game anymore. What do you think?
Hassony Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Awful challenge, and to think Aliadaire (whatever spelling) gets a three match ban for tickling Mascherano's cheek.it was four in the end That tackle from cole will be ignored by the fa now because of the yellow card
Gooner Spy Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 it was four in the end That tackle from cole will be ignored by the fa now because of the yellow card It was rightly four, though, by the ridiculous rules we are subjected to. The precedent for harmless flicks to the face was long since set, and by that ridiculous letter of the law, Aliadiere's was a 'frivolous' appeal. Not saying its right......

Gooner Spy Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Lampard got his ban overturned Was that appeal 'frivolous'? Much as I hate him, it wasnt the same as Aliadieire, no?
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 that's a terrible challenge - worse than Taylors inasmuch as both feet are off the ground. Once you commit to that, there's no pulling out. He got off because contact wasn't with a standing leg. He should be shot, or burned. The c***
Montse Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 Didnt Crouchy get sent off for a similar challenge and he didnt even make contact, it was for the intent? It was a shocking decision and he should have got sent off either for 2 yellows or a straight red
D.Boon Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 I hate those Chelsea c**** so much that i wanted them to lose tonight even thoughit makes it easier for United. Terry, Lampard, Cole, Drogba all f***ing getting in the refs face like a bunch of c**** bullying him into a decision which the spineless c*** gives. As the title says the ref bottled it and should have given him the extra yellow for dissent alone. Notice Lampard doing his trademark tackle with following leg going into oppositions standing leg again. dirty, slimy, c***
