So whose going to start against Wigan?

Tricky one a few players looked pretty tired, but with the FA Cup a few days later thats a game where players can be rested too.

 

Torres and Gerrard both looked pretty tired could they be rested for the next 2 games?

 

Crouch should obviously come back in after his 3 game rest, and Alonso and Riise too but at the moment we have to keep winning in the league so i dont think we can make too many changes.

Same back 4 unless Agger or Hyppia is fit to play.

I'd be content to see Torres & Gerrard rested for Wigan and Luton.

 

If Babel is to take next season by storm then he needs to be starting more games this half-season to ready himself or we'll be in danger of Cheyrou-ing him.

 

Hobbs at centreback. And a couple more games for Kewell to continue his fitness-building. Tell Kuyt he's to stay in their box and if he doesn't score 8 goals he's getting fired.

The Wigan game should take on more priority than the FA Cup game against Luton. No doubt there will be people in the media accusing Rafa of disrespecting the FA Cup if he does play a "weakened" team against Luton. Play a similar team against Wigan and bring in players who are close to full fitness for the Cup game. (Alonso, Agger, Hobbs etc)

I'd rest/drop Riise again and play him at left-mid against Luton - again with direct instructions for goals. A couple would do him the world of good.

Babel will defo start this one, think Fabio will continue at LB and Torres might be left out after today.

 

There is zero chance of them keeping a clean sheet at Anfield with the dreadful players they've got at the back regardless of who is upfront for us so that's alright.

If Kuyt plays, for pity's sake play him up front with Torres instead of as a link player in a 4-4-1-1. Maybe then we'll see him play properly. I still think he's quality but even I'm getting frustrated seeing him running around outside the 18 yard box.

if that is the team i will be gutted. we cannot afford to drop points. if fit, Torres and Gerrard must start. its that type of team selection that has landed us so far behind already. Wigan will come and defend deep. i wouldnt trust that 11 to break them down. i'd defo start Torres and Gerrard, and if we are 2 or 3 up at half time take them off then. i wouldnt start Babel either, Benny Noon would start for mr, as would Kewell for Riise.

Agree about Torres and Gerrard. They can be rested against Luton, so after tomoz they will have had 9 days rest before we play Boro.
