81 mins: Incredible! Whittaker goofed to present Benzema with a clear run at goal. The young striker rounded the keeper and tapped the ball towards the net, but Whittaker got back to clear it off the line! Then McGregor pounced to prevent Benzema scoring at the second attempt. Seconds later, Rangers roared down the other hand, Ferguson slashes into the box and fired the ball across the face of goal. Darcheville sprinted in to slam it into the empty net from four yards ...... but instead struck it over ther bar! A simply outrageous miss!

More importantly than all this is that Everton have reached a semi-final. I can see them winning that cup.

hang on

the Liverpool Ladies are in the semi finals of the Women's FA Cup too, y'know?

See, your lack of panic (or at least mild-apprehension) at the notion of Evertonians lifting silverware is how we can tell just how goddamn Southern you are.

You're in a boss mood today aren't you...Capello announced in a bit.

nice of you, Knox but i'm retired from International football

You're the new Shearer. There will still be people saying in two years time how you could still do a job for your country but you're going to prioritise the domestic calendar.

i just think it's time for a new generation. I thought long and hard about the decision over the summer and in order to prolong my club career i decided it's for the best.

So this begs the question as to who on YNWA is going to step into the boots of Cobs as first class England whipping boy. Murph showed a bit of interest in the role recently but if anyone needs to prolong his career, it's Murph. DarkBalio often shows promise but he's arguably too mired in other roles to take it on board. Same goes for Matty. Could it be someone unexpected? SteveH has the longevity and posting stamina but does he want the hassle that goes with the role?

Your public will want you back sooner or later Cobs and I for one think you'll be stronger than ever come 2009.

Sammya used to be good value, before he was eaten alive by Foxtons.
