I did not think Gerrard would be able to cope in the centre of a 4 4 2 against top opposition without leaving us open at the back, I also think Rafa thought that his adventurous style was too much of a risk in the middle and therfore used his class from a less exposed role on the right, last week against Villa and today has shown a more mature, aware and dare I say it, less selfish, Gerrard.

 

I always knew he was world class, he may just be a bit better than that...

I criticised him a lot for his lack of defensive awareness but he is now showing the sort of responsible play that will make him one of our greatest ever players. In previous seasons you wouldn't have seen him as one of our deepest players getting stuck in. He was brilliant today. A true captain's performance.

Didn't hear that. Stupid comments if true. Rafa knew that he didn't have the discipline to play there as part of a duo. However, I'm not surprised if he did say that - that's pretty much how his autobiog reads.

I think Gerrard is about to have his best ever season for us. His whole attitude is perfect.

I don't think I've ever seen him this determined, he really wants the title this season and looks as if he's gonna fight tooth and nail for it. A great start to the season from him.
