I know this is done somewhere else but - I'm having trouble deciding which to get!

Has anyone any comments/tips/pointers since they've switched to Setanta? Is Sky the better package to go with? (i.e. 35 a month from Sept - compared to 9.99 and no contract?)

well, I'd like as many LFC games as possible really and other leagues sound good - basically I'd like an option to watch the other games too if replayed later in the evening or extended highlights?

then get sky. sky have far more premiership games. Setanta has far more European leagues. are you really going to watch French and dutch football?

or save yourself the dilemma and just get both, i'm surethe extra tenner a month wont break you, and if you dont like one then cancel it. its hardly a life changing decision.

if you move during the minimum contract period do you end up forking out for the remainder or can you 'bring' it with you?

Having said that, if its mainly LFC games I'd just get Setanta, as you'll get all games (delayed) with the LFC channel.

The games on Setanta will in the main be s*** teams Vs decent ones or s*** teams vs s*** teams. Sky will still have the biggest games.

I used to love Setanta. Till they switched satellite (or summet), and then I couldn't pick up Setanta 1 & 2  And as I live in a block of flats with a communal satellite dish, its not like I can nip up to the roof and move it. So I got rid of Setanta.

I'll probably get it back when the ice hockey starts though, cos at least I can get NASN on it, which is the best sports channel without a doubt :cooler:

Anyway, that doesn't help does it ;)

ok, so about the LFC channel - when is it up and running? is it an add-on?

Sometime in September I think. Not sure about all the variants, but I have Setanta through Satellite (i.e. sky) and its part of the 9.99 Setanta package.

well i don't have sky nor do i have a freeview box with a card slot :(

I'll phone them :)

I know enough to advise you'll need something through which to transmit the signal

ah, i thought it might be as easier as just switching it on via the freeview box :( I tried calling but they cut me off saying they were busy :hmm:

yeah i've just been reading :hmm: why do these things always seem more difficult once you get in to them. It'll take 7 days or so for them to delivery the new box (I'll then have 3 ) and then they'll send the card separately..

I wonder if sky are less hectic

but the LFC channel sounds great - if they show delayed matches on it

Wont the LFC channel be available via the e-season ticket which is less than £50 per year ? so unless it's live matches that generally don't feature LFC that you are after is the e-ticket not a better bet than Setanta ?

well i don't know! I've never had the e-season ticket. My broadband is a bit testy - likes to drop now and again - so I don't know if i want to watch the footie on my laptop - not great to have people over ....

so, i'm stuck between sky + setanta!

Setanta's coverage of the SPL is hilarious - Saturday's highlight show very kindly played the sectarian chanting Rangers fans were later b******ed over, said no official statement or complaint had been made and that this would run and run

Get Virgin Media & have both (I get setanta free:) )

I only have virgin broadband ....and yet somehow my telly has, without being hooked up to sky, has all the Setanta package and all the sky package! Bingo....ah the wonders of ebay!
