Bjorn Borg has been talking about the city and football as he is coming over for this tennis tournament this week

 

He's a Charlton fan and said generally nice things about us, but I particularly enjoyed his comment on the Blues, mentioned in this week's LFC magazine:

 

"Of course I've heard of Everton. They were very good in the mid-eighties"

As a Swede he is one of our few old champs that I really like. Coolness personified when playing and have never been a mediawhore. McEnroe hated it when he quit tennis, it was the same anymore he has said in interviews. I really don't want his Wimbledon record to be matched even though records is there to be broken. I just don't think theres any charisma in the tennis players these days. The 70's and 80's had lots of cool players on the tour.

I agree it's a very pleasant day out, the surroundings in the park are very attractive and there is a pleasant informal atmosphere, with the players rubbing shoulders with the crowd.

 

Looks like the weather is going to spoil it this year though
