always had a bit of a soft spot for Blackpool - I think because when I first got interested in football as a kid, the memory of the Matthews/Mortenson final was still relatively fresh in people's memory, and then the Steve McMahon link later on - so really pelased for em today. Hope they manage to stay up - I think they will, they have the players and game to cope with the higher level I think.

My folks are proper tangerine's from the mortenson/matthews era, and they used to take me to Bloomfield Rd as a kid, apart from the odd trip to Anfield when I could persuade them.

 

Great day out, decent stadium and great atmosphere. Infact, the general friendliness, and family style atmosphere, reminded me more of a Rugby League Cup Final than a footie game. Very refreshing given some of the stuff I've read on here this week.

I live 3 miles from Blackpool, and today they are having an open top parade through the town.

Not on the bus though, but on a TRAM.
