A charter flight due to take off at 10:00 has been cancelled due to a plane malfunction. According to talksport the fans all have tickets and now look like they won't even make it to the game. God I feel bad for them.

They interviewed some of the fans and the ones they spoke to were unusally calm. I would have been ready to kill someone. They all seem pretty resigned to not making it on time.

with respect, if you'd had tickets wouldnt you have flown out the night before ??

'With respect', that's a f***ing ridiculous thing to say. There's countless reasons why people need to fly out on the day, not least work commitments.

I know many don't have a choice of when to fly out, but there is no way on earth I'd fly out the day of the game. I get wound up enough when a flight is late leaving for a holiday, with no 'deadline' as it where. If I where going to a match I'd have to know I was heading out at least a day early!

What a nightmare for those now stranded.

with respect you`d think the airlines would have prepared for this and at least have a back up flight available...actually thinking about it........maybe not, as we all know what great service you get from air travel..

as I said above, many don't have a choice.

Me personally - I wouldn't do it, cos I know the stress of travelling on the day and the risk of being stuck, would drive me nuts! But if you have no choice but to fly on the day, then you make the decision, don't go, or take the risk. Sadly, there is always going to be one or two instances when this happens.

totally agreed, I'm surprised no one is suing the air company --- obviously I want something worked out for those stuck at the airport - I was just surprised so many people were leaving today, I expected most to have left last night

Really disappointed with the airline - it was obvious that this would not be a normal flight and a decent backup plan should have been made

what are the alternative arrangements they've made? the article I said mentioned some were made

so someone should've sued them in the 10 mins since their flight got cancelled?

Does anyone know which airline is responsible?

It's apparently a charter company out of London.

Just heard that many of the fans are being escorted from the Airport by police. Talk about adding insult to injury.

That's terrible

is there no way of hiring another plane from some other airline (a special one off or something)

Sorry if a Romario, but, on radio this morning there were a load of fans who turned up for a flight this morning at 7.00, only to be told that there flight left at 4.00 and that they were told of the change of flight plan by E-Mail on Monday. They went mental saying they weren't informed at all and the flight company were trying to organise another plane.

This dosen't bode well for many people and has been badly organised from the start right across the board. The stadium maybe a fecking quarter empty tonight!!.

Unfortunately thats the problem with cheapo flights.

This is unrelated to the game but yesterday becaus of the italian air strikes Ryan Air sent its customers text messages saying 'Your flight has been cancelled please visit our website to book another one'. Some people were stuck at provincial airports where the next flight back to the uk is in a weeks time!!!

These things happen, no one is to blame. They'll get over it.

Better on the ground than in some dodgy plane.
