I've not been on an Everton website for at least 4 years, but my Dad and father in law (both blues) congratulated me on LFC getting to the final of the EC having watched the game and cheered us on.

This is very much a thing of the past. I used to watch EFC one week and LFC the next. And I got behind both sides despite being a Red.

Not any more. Went on Toffeeweb to see if there was a hint of pride in another city of Liverpool team doing well, what a mistake. There is an immense tide of:

Bitterness

Jealousy

Nit-picking

They find every excuse imaginable for putting our successes down to luck, biased refs, weather, etc etc. It made me feel sick that so many Evertonians have nastiness, spite and bile at their core instead of admiration, congratualtion and camaraderie. It'll be longer than 4 years before I go back to a blue site agin. Disgraceful, childish, Mourinhoish.

I'm so disappointed. :(

ps well done to Spionkop for reasoned argument in the face of biased rubbish.

My Dad's a bluenose, and he used to be a top class goalie and when I phoned him after the match all he could go on about was Reina's penalty technique and how good he was.

No bitterness at all.

Times have changed I guess.

Indeed they have - one bitter I know is convinced that the FA, UEFA, FIFA, NASA the UNited Federation of Planets and everyone else have 'changed the rules' to allow us to be in the competion, have certain players, to let two 'two gangsters' buy the club (wtf?), have our new stadium and other insanities. Oh and not forgetting Clive Thomas and Heysel, the battle of Spion Kop and the sinking of the Luisitania.

Bitterness, bitterness

The only things the blues possess

If you live in Liverpool and knock about with blues (As I do) then most of the match going ones aren't anything like as bitter as you imagine.

Most of their worst fans are beauts that have been to Goodison less than I have - just like we've got our own collection of muppets that never go to Anfield.

Each club has its good and bad fans - just like any other

Some of their fans are excellent and some are bellends.

Just like with Hillsbrough people saying "They all sing stuff about it" is absolute, utter, complete and total b******s - several of my very good mates who go to Goodison with Season Tickets and go home and away lost members of their family and mates at that terrible event and are as upset and pissed off by the c**** that sing that stuff as we are.

They certainly have some knobends - but so do we - just trying going to any away on Happy Als Coaches or seeing the scally racists that seem all too common nowdays that follow us. Or the bellends kicking off with away fans for no f***ing reason whatsoever.

One of my mates who goes to Goodison most games said he'd rather see Liverpool fail in the final than Everton qualify for Europe next year. Said this was common amongst Everton fans. Says it all really.

He's a great bloke but can't help but be bitter.

Your mate is a class 'A' Knobend.

The lads I go to Goodison with now and then (And the missus) all obviously will be happy with Liverpool not winning -but they all want Everton to qualify - because they actually go to European aways when they can get them - they ALL went to their Spain away day (Including the missus).

I suspect that your beaut of a mate didn't.

Not untypical. In 1989 there was one of them said he didn't want Everton go win the FA Cup Semi Final because he couldn't face being beaten by Liverpool AGAIN in the final. At least he was honest, I suppose.

You'll note that psl mentions his "mate that goes to some games"

He's not a season ticket holder. He's not a real fan. He almost certainly doesn't go to aways (Never mind European Aways). In short he's a knobend.

Try talking to real fans that go to all the games.

Of COURSE they'll want to travel away in Europe.

Topics like this are just as bad as Mancs or Evertonians saying that "All Liverpool fans are.. (this/that/the other)"

Obviously all individuals are different - but to try and seperate (for instance) scousers as 'different' because they support one team or the other is laughably stupid.

I said he goes to 'most' (not some) games, including aways. His family have two season tickets between three. I think he went to the Villereal match but I'm not sure. He's a real fan, no question about that.

Thanks Andy, glad you came in on this knowing Margy's loyalties. I think much of the problem is caused by OOTers who rarely attend the match.

He goes to European aways and yet doesn't want Everton to get into Europe.

Yes. That sounds convincing.

Aye - they've got their share of armchairs themselves mate.

I think my Everton mates who go would be having several words with psl's mate in the pub.

That's f***en b******s, every Everton fan is from County Road. Fact.

Seriously though the vast majority of them, match going or stay at home, hate us with a passion.

You're deluded if you think otherwise.

That isn't the issue. The issue is that would they want us to lose in preference to them making it to Europe.

Of course SOME of them hate us - as much as SOME of us hate the Mancs (And as much as SOME of us hate Everton)

Tarring f***ing everyone with the same brush when you haven't met them is clearly stupid.

So you've met most of the match going blues then? :D
