LIVERPOOL v PSV EINDHOVEN

Seen that alright, no basis from the comments that Rafa had quoted. I reckon Gerrard will start with Bellamy (Kuyt suspended) and go for them pretty early and then make changes at half time or slightly thereafter.

Liverpool tend to start very very strong early on and then fade rather than start slow and come on strong so, IMHO

Koeman to give youth a chance

"PSV coach Ronald Koeman has named a youthful squad for the Champions League quarter-final second leg against Liverpool on Wednesday.

Koeman has included untried teenagers Rens van Eijden and Olivier ter Horst in his 18-man party following the withdrawal of several first-teamers through injury.

Ibrahim Afellay, Jan Kromkamp, Edison Mendez, Michael Reiziger and Alex have all been ruled out of the trip to Anfield, while Alcides, John de Jong and Género Zeefuik are not eligible to play.

Meanwhile, PSV had their lead at the top of the Dutch Eredivisie cut to just two points following a 2-1 defeat at NEC on Saturday"

..............

With Mendez and Kromkamp out of an already depleted squad and while they are still in the hunt for their own league it might suggest that we might be able to rest a few players!

PSV have a lot of injury worries by the looks of things...

Given the absentee list, the one bright spot for PSV - given they need a shedload of goals, would be the fitness of Kone.

Given there has been no news about him returning, I would have thought he is out but the list does not include him - strange !

I mean, you'd think journalists would specifically ask the question as if PSV could have one player back for the Anfield game and they could choose between Kone and Alex - it would have to be Kone given the task at hand............

He played at the weekend. He's s*** anyway, he's an even worse version of Cisse. His finishing is dreadful.

Erratic is the word you are after me thinks ;) - agree in general and 4 goals would be pushing it but they he is one of their best hopes even if its not a great hope. Thanks for the update that he played at the weekend though.

Isn't Agger as well? Maybe see him rested? It's surprising Rafa didn't get all our players on yellow cards to get themselves booked other than Kuyt.

Nah its just Pennant.

In the next round it'd be nice if our players cheat like crazy in the first leg and get Drogba, Ballack, Diarra and Joe Cole banned for the return
