Guest Ant Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 He should of scored that..... Last Season Cisse did the exact same thing but at Old Trafford, and that for me was the nail in an already made coffin... Can't help but notice the similarities between now and then and bearing in mind we are getting a new striker in the summer Could that cost Crouch his career here?
Coyler Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Other factors will cost him his career here. It's mad, I was looking at him to-day and daydreaming about the massive run of clean sheets up to the World Club final last year and how integral he was to our style of play with his beautiful lay-offs and link-up play. We've played about four different main styles since Rafa came. Class.
smicer07 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Absolute balls. It was a great save, not a bad miss. Cost him his career? Talk about drama queen.
Guest Ant Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Not being a drama queen, and Im sorry, but the guy just fluffed the ball, he should of put is foot through it... The guy needs to be taking them chances, reguardless now considering we have been rumoured to be in talks with the Likes of Eto'o and Villa. Crouch needs to be putting them away if is to be sure of a place here next season...
Knox_Harrington Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Think there's enormous differences between the misses and their significance but I do think Crouch may be the one of the three that makes way simply because since his court case finished Bellamy has, for the most part, played so well. Not being a drama queen, and Im sorry, but the guy just fluffed the ball, he should of put is foot through it...He didn't fluff it. He tried to place it. Whether or not he should be placing it harder is a different matter. It was a terrific save though.
RedNik Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Voronin is probably coming in to replace Fowler. So unless we are able to land another striker - and he will have to be truly top class (ie 1 tier above Crouchy), Crouch will still be here. Theres been a lot of talk about Villa and Etoo but who knows if they will actually be availabe and willing to move. What has struck me the most this season however is how Crouch is no longer influential in the style of football we play. He was excellent last year and even through that horrendous goal drought - he commanded a place in the side because we played that much better with him.
Ben 23 Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 If one striker leaves then it has to be Fowler. But if two strikers are to leave then, for me, Kuyt should come before Crouch. Kuyt just isn't good enough, however much he tries. If 3 strikers are to be sold (unlikely) that's when Crouch should enter the equation. How do you know we will sign a striker anyway, unless you are talking about Voronin?
Guest Sabre Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Not sure what Crouch has done wrong to be honest. Their keeper pulled off a fantastic save.

Was a great save, but I think Crouchy will be the striker sacrificed in the summer for another. He's hardly featured since Xmas.

RafaShanks Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I prefer Crouch to Kuyt tbh Have to agree with that.
RafaShanks Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 don't be daft I think Dirk has been awful the last couple of months. Bellamy is our best striker overall IMHO.

abc Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 (edited) Problem with that chance he had; if he was a better header of the ball he would have tried to head it in. But he had enough time to take it down, which he did well, but after that he should have clobbered it. Hindsight maybe, but I thought it was a very head-able chance. Still love the fella though. I'm assuming Bellamy was pulled off because he was tiring too much that he might not have had too much left in the tank for Tuesday? Edited March 3, 2007 by abc
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 if crouch was 6'1" he'd have tried to head it, it was too low for him. Apart from that he did everything right, he put the ball back across the keeper. The reason he didn't score was a fantastic save. Credit where it's due. Cisse last season sat on his erse & f***ed up a tap in in front of an open goal with the keeper already beaten - if he'd have hit the target it was a goal
Toni Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 (edited) Bellamy is our best striker over all. Kuyt in his first season in England showed glimpses of what a great player he is and will be for us. Crouch needs to be replaced by a top notch quality striker. He is too damn slow. He s tall but can t get head a ball to save his life. He s not that strong either and commits too many fouls on defenders when he is trying to hold-up play up frony. has good feet, but as said too slow to use them effectively. old robbie seems to have been replaced with the mysterious voronin signing Edited March 3, 2007 by Toni
Stevie H Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Indeed, Crouch did everything right!of course he did. hit the target, good save.
Big E Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 I was wondering if Crouch was even worried about his nose. Don't remember him winning too many headers. His overall play is nowhere near as good as last year. Maybe this is because he's not playing as deep to use his feet, and we still look for the long ball up to him. He's a great finisher but I have to say I wouldn't be gutted if he left to be replaced by somebody better. I think we'd make a profit on him too - Barcodes probably. Bellamy is by far our best striker at the moment, I really like him as a player. Hope he stays in the summer although he could well leave. Apparently Voronin is similar in style to Bellamy according to Rafa. My wishlist for next year: EtooBellamyVoroninCrouch/a n other. potentially a lot of new strikers tho

RedNik Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Kuyt is clearly in rafas long term plans. this is absolute nonsense that ppl want rid of him next year. Give him time, also, his goal scoring record is solid for us.
psl Posted March 3, 2007 Posted March 3, 2007 Crouch's contact was fine but in a perfect world I'd think he'd have kept it lower and more in the far corner.
