has been awful this season..

worst ive seen him in the best part of 3 seasons....

hyypia is getting most of the blame, but for me he didnt do a whole lot wrong today..

carra seemed to be on a different wavelength to everyone else, especially when pushing up for offsides..

i love carra, but he just doesnt seem quite right at the mo.

He's not on speaking terms with Rafa because he wants to play in the centre. But aye, he's been gash this season like. Probably needs to cut down the tv watching and get his mind straightened. I say, send him on loan to the Agger household.

Yup, well off form this year. His positioning has been awful and seems to have lost his confidence.

Well he was injured for about the first 5 games, (but if you belive the media rafa rotated him for rotation sake) but for me the only shocker hes had wa slast night

you serious!?! he has been poor ever since coming bk from injury.....

i love carra but without the carraredshades on, even i know he has been awful this season...

c`mon kev, be honest.....you know it, hes been crap this season

No he's not been crap, off form but not crap.

As far as I'm concerned Carra and Stevie are immune from criticism, the standards that those have achieved over the past are not being reached this season for whatever reason.

They are victims of their own success if you like.

Too many times over the seasons we've looked to our captain to inspiration and leadership, but sometimes he cannot do that. It is then down to the others to pick up their game individually and not wait around for someone else to do it for them.

I'm sorry, I love Carra and all that but he has been utter crap this season and it's laughable people talk about Sami and Gerrard more than someone who's currently a bigger liability in our defence than Djimi Traore ever was.

Everyone knows how good he is, he's the best in the country when he's on top form (around March 05 - May 06) but at the moment he's shaky, indecisive, mistiming headers and tackles and generally all over the place. Obviously he's not the only one and all the [senior] players need a good kicking but his form is particularly worrying because Carra just doesn't have bad months. Maybe we've come to expect too much and it's just plain unlucky that his rocky patch has co-incideded with everyone else.

No idea what's wrong with him, personal problems, niggling injury - I dunno. But he's seriously underperforming and needs to pull his socks up as much as anyone else in the side because we KNOW he's good enough.

go ahead & shoot you?

I'll join the queue you dick.

You must be a manc or a bluenose on a wind up with your threads tonight.

If you're not, become one...quickly please.

ok so lets see, i posted about not believing alonso is best suited to the premiership and hasnt played consistently well for the past year and a half and that carra has been poor this season...

anything wrong with that??

Alonso and carra are two of our most popular players, so no suprise people are pissed with my coments, i believe some fans have to be harsh, have to look at the obvious..

im not happy at the mo with our current state of affairs both on the pitch and off...(stadium,board etc..)

Do players who have been fantastic for us in the past deserve a bit more time to find their form...of course, but how much time do they get...

Every game is important, its all about now....if a player isnt performing, regardless of who it is...they deserve to be questioned.

So the same logic does not work for Rafa then???

Our whole defence has been a liability this year. Finnan and Hypia can be let go next year in my opinion. Riise and Carra can be given another chance, and before anyone starts to slam me, i love our entire team but you have to be realistic sometimes and realise that whoever you love in the team cannot play for ever.

He hasn't been anywhere near his best this season, hopefully he didn't peak in 2005.

However,I'd say his level of consistency in the previous two seasons allows him a slow start to the season. He'll sort it out,he's a class player.

Agreed, a centre half he is not...and as a right back not good going forward..

Is it blind faith with the scouser ?

He's not having the best of seasons I admit but hey, watch the Istanbul DVD, - if ya have one?? - to see if he isn't a centre-back??

Flaming Nora.. Sh**e must smell like Issy Mayake in all these perfect people's world.

He is the best defender in the league when on form, no doubt about it for me. But at the moment he's all over the place and needs to sort it out. Thankfully, he probably will.

Carra has proved himself a top centre half over a couple of seasons, so he's out of form but that is all it is. He hasn't become a poor defender overnight.

Personally I think the World Cup has a lot to answer for. He was awful out of position at left-back for England (he hasn't played there in a long time at club level), and after the bizarre episode of him being brought on for 30 seconds to miss a penalty he seems to have lost a lot of confidence.

He isn't as sure in himself, which means he's making bad decisions - either thinking twice about challenges and being late or diving in rashly. He's lost his composure, and needs a couple of good games under his belt to get that back. In all honesty my heart was in my mouth for most of the second half on Sunday because he was reckless again and again with his challenges even before the one he could have gone for.

The Carra of the last two seasons wouldn't have done that, I can rarely remember him coming close to a red card because his timing was so good and he was confident in his own ability.

There seem to be a few in the squad short of belief in themselves at the moment unfortunately.
